TJ Maxx: The Epilogue

malandrinoooo.jpg
No, I didn’t go back and buy the Marc dress (sigh), but I did score something else that’s equally exciting, if not as glamorous:

This coat from Catherine Malandrino’s Spring ‘07 collection.

It was in her boutique for about $600, but TJ Maxx knocked it down to $200, but nobody bought it (which we can sort of understand - a canvas coat with three-quarter puff sleeves and military closures isn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world to wear).

I pulled it from a hunching hanger in the back of the clearance rack - weirdly, it was in the “Cocktail Dresses” section, and even more unexpected: It cost $120 with tax!

Now I have an excuse to buy some long scrunchy gloves - they’ll look great with a cropped sleeve.

yeah, TJ has this whole new section of contemporary stuff, I think they are calling it The Runway. It's like they just caught on to contemporary clothing....
much to the chagrin to sales reps like me :-(

You might consider the long scrunchy fingerless gloves from the Simply Vera collection from Kohls if they're still available :)

this is what's called a maxx moment!

i work at tjmaxx and i see awesome things like this every so often. right now there are marc jacobs shoes for $230 that were marked $780 on the box. and there are D+G shoes for $250... but the best part is, no one really buys them so they get marked lower and lower until they are cheap enough for me to buy!

i own a pair of marcs that i got for $70, and two betsey johnson dresses that i got for $17 and $20.

Wait, it's actually better - the original price tag was left in the pocket and I just found it. The coat was actually $700.

not sure if this is true around the country, but the new stuff comes in at my store on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and gets unpacked by the end of the day.

Lately, they've had a lot of Michael Kors and Max Studio -- in the case of Max, at cheaper prices than at the Woodbury Commons outlet.
