Victoria Beckham Confirmed, Shot for Marc Jacobs

VictoriaBeckham.jpg WWD began the rumblings several months ago, and now we’ve heard from someone involved with the shoot that Victoria Beckham has indeed been styled, photographed, and paid (oh my, she was paid…) for the Spring ‘08 Marc Jacobs ads.

Juergen Teller did the honors and shot Posh Spice just after Halloween.

The move ensures two things in the land of MJ:

1. Like Dakota Fanning and Meg White before her, now that VB has been chosen by Marc himself, she’s officially and undeniably cool. This is fine with us, because she seems pretty funny and smart.

2. Marc’s done with his Violet Incredible obsession and he’s moved onto finding the complications in glossed and glassy women, not shaggy and sharded girls. As his own appearance morphs and changes, his clothes edge into more implicit ideas about sex and identity - and so do his heroines. Dita and Victoria are the new Golden Girls here, and we’ve got to get used to it.

At least, for this season we will.

PS: The photo we chose… well, we really wanted one of Posh smiling… but she still had to have her trademark short hair… and this is the only one we found!

i do not know what to say. i really really do not know what to say except that i am very shocked! oh. I knew there was something steamy going on between her and MJ ever since she wore one of his SS08 dress to the VS fashion show.

and (i hope this does not sound weird) but why does he have to pay her??

LOVE her, but I'm surprised by the pairing; Marc Jacobs and Victoria Beckham, in the fabulous words of Cher Horowitz, "don't mesh well together."

VB has been my quasi idol since the old Spice Girl days, but recently I have definitely looked to her more as a style icon...well, at least when it comes to shoes. I think her modeling for MJ will be interesting, and its sure to be "major"!

I love love love Posh.
I hope that the ads are in true Juergen style and show a cookier side of her.

I know fashionista is a fan of Cathy Horn, so you must have read her fabulous review of Marc's Spring show in which she discussed the irony of posh's oversexed apperance at a show that was really about refined and understated sensuality

Cathy's observations are really the only thing i can think about right now. At first they made me mad, but now I have to say i'm really intrigued and interested to see how Marc and Jueregen Teller will manage these two extremes. No matter how much i might not like posh, i know deep in my heart that they'll make everything all right in the end.

This sounds so dumb, idk I just don't think she's Marc Jacobs. No matter how Chelsea he is now, she still doesn't seem as the right representation of the brand.

Yup I should have known. Posh wore one of Marc's cut out creation to a event recently.

vb is amazing. i think she's the most respectable style icons to surface in a while. i couldn't think of a stronger match in fashion. marc and victoria are going to kill it. can't wait for the ads.

Go read what Jezebel commenters have to say about Faran and her incredibly uninteresting cattiness.

Posh? Someone has got to be as aganist this as I am! When did showing off your brest implants in short pink dresses become acceptable? Marc is one of my favorite designers and I am honestly disapointed in both him and this website...i would have thought you guys to be against this.

Hate to be the one to say it, but it's going to take more than a Marc Jacobs ad to turn Posh into anything other than a posturing idiot.

That woman is NOT fashion. What is this talk about her as a "style icon"? Since when have fake boobs, acrylic nails, and orange skin been stylish? Everything about this is just wrong.

Posh doesn't have breast implants -- it's called a push-up bra. If you compare pictures you'll see the size of her breasts varies based on what she's wearing.

Yeah, I'm so sure she doesn't have implants. And if that's true, the woman must be an idiot for paying money for a pushup bra that makes her look like she's got two grapefruits tacked to her chest.
