Who Wore It Better?

who wore it better - anna or ashley.jpg At last night's CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund party, it wasn't just prize money that got exchanged.

Anna Wintour started the night with two fashion accents - one was her daughter, Bee , and the other was a Chanel Haute Couture jacket, studded with jewels and glowing the kind of green usually reserved for Kryptonite.

Then Style.com reports that somehow, by the end of the night, Ms. Wintour had been relieved of all her accoutrements - both Bee and the sweeping Chanel coat somehow landed with Ashley Olsen.

The backstory is intriguing, but we'd rather go where US Weekly can't, and ask the key question - Who Wore It Better?

Hint: The answer is Anna.

The chanel couture jacket looks so much better on Ashley. She looks edgy and modern and that's quite complicated when you're wearing a couture piece. Or am I wrong?

The jacket is more age appropriate looking on Ashley, even if it's not age appropriate in terms of status and price.

I actually like it better on Ashley...she wears it w/ a certain air of whimsy compared Anna's soignee. Ashely lacks the gravitas that Anna has wrt taking it too seriously. It is, after all, a jacket (yes coming from a decades long lover of Chanel).

This comparison is strange...very strange, I must say and the story behind it must be stranger.

Both women look great tho, in their own ways.

I think the jacket looks better on Ashley. But in all honesty, the jacket fits neither of them.

I like that Ashley wore it unbuttoned; it's a nice, nonchalant touch. That having been said, jacket just looks rather frumpy on her (and what is up with the hair?). My vote goes for Ms. Wintour.

Wintour all the way. You need shoulders for that hideous rag.

From STYLE.com -- here's the story:

Sometimes the small portions at fancy sit-down dinner parties like last night's Seventh on Sale don't quite satisfy the appetites of the guests in attendance. And what with all the pre-event primping, it's not like many had the time to snack beforehand. So after things wound down at the 69th Regiment Armory, a small gaggle of dinner guests congregated at—no shocker here—the Waverly Inn, including Margherita Missoni, Ashley Olsen, and Chiara Clemente. Word had it french fries were the perfect second dinner. When talk moved on from pricey fried goods, however, it quickly turned to the night's hot topic—Ashley Olsen's charitable acquisition. "I literally bought the coat off Anna Wintour's back," she said. "I wanted to walk out with it—but she told me I should wait till tomorrow and she'll send a couture tailor to my house to make it perfect."

This may sound like a bizarre observation, but I think the way the coat is worn fits each photo quite well. Anna's button-up, austere styling makes the whole shot look so dignified. Flick over to Ashley and it's really relaxed and, unsurprisingly, younger.

I'd probably wear the coat like Ashley if I could get my hands on it (i.e. steal it from the cloakroom of the Waverley Inn) but I don't necessarily know better. I don't have the bone structure for a bob either! lol
