Get yourself over to an REI or Dick's Sporting Goods. I know that's anathema to most fashion people, but they make really great cold weather stuff that you can use for layering.

In the meantime, why don't you do what I've done all my life- wear black tights under your jeans. Wolford makes polar tights and they are REALLY warm. Not the most comfy, especially with a tighter cut jean, but they really work if you are walking around the city all day. Sorry @ stephanie- chinos are for suburban soccer moms. I told my husband that if he ever sees me wearing something like that he should kill me (lol?). And I am someone's mom, too.

Actually, in design school, the marketing department asked us to do this. however, two layors of thick fabric will always come out bulky, and unless you find a stretch flannel and stretch denim, they can't be too fitted or you'd never be able to sit down. It's an almost impossible task to make flannel lined jeans that are slimming. This is a task for an engineer. I second the tights under your pants idea as more viable. Fashion designers may make dreams come true, but they can't defy physics.

Cutely written post. Anyway, ages ago Gap did some fleece lining...
I just had an idea- what if they made them uber luxurious and did the lining in a silk cashmere blend?

When I browsed though my L.L. Bean Catalog, I was thinking the SAME thing! I'm thinking of getting some slim snowboard pants for taking my dog out in the morn.

I saw a woman with those jeans on on the path this week... At least jeans in general are warmer than work pants.
