College is when most women invest in their first big fashion purchase - at 19, many of our friends got those Murikami Vuitton bags; meanwhile, we discovered Miu Miu could actually be worn to class. But perhaps the girls at Lafayette College have us all beat- Their campus store just launched a limited edition Hermes scarf, designed just for the school The scarf commemorates the 250th birthday of France's Marquis de Lafayette, for whom the school is named. It was designed by Texas artist Kermit Oliver, and came into being when a Lafayette alum living in Paris met a member of the Hermes family, convincing him to do an accessory for the school. The scarf for the school is very limited edition, and sells for $325 at the school store - though there are other, more common scarves with a Lafayette theme coming from Hermes this month. We wonder if it'll replace Gucci print bags as the way to get into a sorority, but doubt it, since it doesn't have any huge logos...
