Mark Ronson Still Likes Wayfarers. Do You?

Dec 06, 2007 @ 4:21pm

wayfarer.JPG Confession: we adore Mark Ronson, almost as much as his sister Charlotte.

So when his record label emailed us and said, "Want to give away a pair of Ray Bans in honor of Mark's new album?" we were like, "Okay, sure."

We realize this raises a chasm in the depth of some of your souls.

After all, Wayfarers are as polarizing as high waisted jeans, Henry Holland tees, and ankle boots.

And yet, we realize that some of you are still very into Wayfarers, and in fact, some of you would like nothing more than to wear Wayfarers with Mark Ronson while smoking an herbal cigarette somewhere in the back alley of the Lower East Side.

For you, we give you this challenge:

Send us a Streetwalker of yourself or your best friend (tips@fashionista.com). If you have the best outfit, and best write-up, we'll give you the sunglasses.

Bonne chance!

"A" herbal cigarette, not "an herbal cigarette". And you call yourself journalists!

Dear Guest,

We're pretty sure the way we wrote it is fine. But while we're on the subject, you might have meant to write "yourselves" instead of the singular...

Actually, either is correct, 4:35.

The h in herbal is unvoiced, so it takes "an" according to AP style.

Dear Guest @ 4:57,

Faran just said, "I am 100% with that. Unfortunately, those were not the terms."

Wayfarers are like converse, they never go out of style if they're on the right person. I don't get why you guys think that.

God, I love Mark. Wayfarers, not! But my brother loves them. In any case, I don't see a point in asking for the deadline, considering India is not in the running for Streetwalker. Or is it?

But Natalie, next time you are here, for a spiritual quest or whatever, do check out the fashion scene in the subcontinent.

Question for the girls: what is your opinion on the colored wayfarers? The red or white ones? Great when worn right or just 100% bad?

Is this trend already over? I had a feeling it was going to surge into next year, even.

I think black wayfarers with something like a trench, or a chic little French Vogue outfit can be fine. However, wayfarers + any hipster uniform is already overdone and annoying.

I think the colored wayfarers are a bit too trendy. Although I do still secretly adore my pink ones from a year ago. I'll just keep them hidden away until they can be new again.

As for colored Wayfarers... I was firmly against them, until I saw Kenneth Capello's video shoot for Young Love.

Perhaps only the young, beautiful, unapproachable, and red-lipped can get away with them?
