Opening Ceremony Doubles the Fun

Dec 14, 2007 @ 1:01pm

Chloe Sevigny.jpgIf you’re sick of shopping for other people and can feel a fat bonus weighing down your wallet, take yourself to either of Opening Ceremony’s sales, starting today!

Things you could walk away with from the season sale: Topshop, Alexander Wang, Boy, and more- all 30-60% off.

And at the sample sale? Same names (and probably Chloe Sevigny’s line), 75-95% off.

Both of these sales started at 11am today, so fake like your sick, switch into flats and stop by the ATM- they’re only taking cash.

Season sale- at their store, 35 Howard St.
Sample sale- 10 Greene St, basement level.

I went to the sample sale an hour after they opened and it was pure hell. It was SO crowded, even though they were only letting a few people in at a time--more so than at Barneys warehouse sale. They had a lot of stuff, but the clothing was almost all repulsive. I seriously could not believe how ugly the merchandise was. Think Alexandre Herchcovitch dresses that look like they are constructed of latex vomit.

The best things I saw were a few Burfitt tees and some ok United Bamboo pieces, but nothing amazing. I didn't buy anything and regret going. It was such a waste of time: there was a line outside, then another one inside to check your coat and get to the clothing, then the line to pay, then another one to claim your coat. I recommend going to the seasonal sale at their store instead.

@ guest, 3:39 PM- question and comment on your comment-

thank you so much for this info! I was planning on leaving work early to check it out before they closed, but now i'm not going. what i really want is their short sleeved flare coat in canvas, if they even have any left. did they have any of those? and I HATE having to check my stuff, I always think someone will steal it.

i agree with guest3.39. i went today and regret going - everything was ugly and ridiculously overpriced. like basic plain t-shirts for $40. i had never been to the store before, but after going to their sample sale i think that its not for me. maybe i lack imagination but 50% of the clothes their were just simply unwearable unlessits a costume party. and the other 50% were either not that great or not worth the price tag. and the expensive stuff wasn't even that great of quality! i dont get it... maybe someone should clue me in.

I'm just here to echo previous commenters..Yes the sample sale was crowded and we had to wait in line. And the stuff was so totally not worth it. You know how you go to Off 5th and everything is all crumpled together on bad hangers and looks unclean? That's what it was like.

Now the season sale was good. But all the good bags at Top Shop were gone by Saturday! Drats!!!! I was so upset.
