She looks smashing... Yeah, but I agree, the look is way too mature for her age. But then again, it's still smashing and classy. =)

Urban Outfitters existed when you were 16? I don't know whether I should feel really old, or really provincial.

I think we're all just surprised that she's not dressed like a trashy whore at age 16. Would you all be happier if her chest was hanging out or the skirt was super short? Be grateful! Yes, she looks older than she really is, but she looks great. I don't think anyone her age can pull of Chanel like she does. Good for Emma!

PLEASE, get Emma's age right for once!!
She's 17, not 16.
...Although she looks about 70 in the picture. I think her outfit and makeup looks kind of stuffy and boring here. It is possible to look fresh and youthful without coming off as slutty or inappropriate.

I don't think people are asking for her to look like a trashy whore or to be dressed like a lot of tacky 16 years old there, but there is something to be said about dressing appropriately for your age. She's worn other Chanel numbers that suit her age just fine, so I don't think she's doing a great job pulling this one off in the slightest. She obviously knows she looks a bit ridiculous because she's barely smiling in the pic.

It's the makeup that's doing it for me. Good night! She surely doesn't need that much of it.

I think the whole outfit on her is fine. It's simple, not ugly but i don't really think it suits her personality well even though i don't personally know her. i just think that it's her make-up if you pictured the outfit without the extreme lips it wouldn't look at old lady-ish.

I think the worst thing people say about Emma Watson is how she dresses far to old for her age. As a 16-year old myself, I envy the fact that she can actually afford these fantastic clothes and has the style and grace to pull them off. Not every fashion-conscious teenager has to be a London club kid like Agyness-- and we should celebrate her for creating such a unique style so young.

Individually I think a lot of the elements are okay when you're 17, but to keep it young she should've either gone for higher heels, scrapped the red lipstick, or carried a clutch -- the look would've come off much younger without taking away from how 'classy' it is. The problem is that there's nothing effortless about it, and when you're young that's the whole point.

Is this photo for real? Good grief, I love Chanel, but she's pulled together like a 70 year old society doyenne. If there was even a hint of irony it could maybe work, but as is it just looks absurd.
Incidentally, the expressions of the women in the background are priceless ... like "hello wtf?"
