It's the kaiser of khakis, the queen bee of T's...Gap. As a former corporate employee, I can confirm that this fact was headlined in every piece of PR material.

I know this! I used to shop there for Levis in the '70s! It is THE GAP! And their radio commercial jingle was "fall in-to The Gap". btw, I remember shopping at Banana Republic when it was a safari themed store. My then boyfriend, now husband got a safari jacket there to wear as a casual jacket, instead of the ubiquitous golf jacket. Well, the safari jacket is long gone, but he's still around! All of this makes me feel old all of a sudden ;(

Fashionursta! I also remember shopping at Banana Republic when it had a jungle theme! My HS boyfriend and I went there and he bought a T-shirt with a tiger on it. I also remember shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch when it sold really cute preppy clothes and did not look like some sort of hangout for aspiring strippers. I am old!

It was safari themed because the original owners used to travel a lot and started the store to import/sell their finds. They also had an amazing and informative catalog they would send out. Then the Gap bought them...
