I know that Coco Chanel was the first to create a really successful fragrance, but I'm not certain who was the first designer to take a stab at perfume at all... I'd love to find out though!

poiret...parfums de rosine, named for his daughter...it didn't have his name on it, but was still technically the first designer fragrance
