Buy, Buy, Baby

Sock Hop

sock sneakers.JPGWe’re still not sure how we feel about babies, but we really love their clothing. And if you have someone really tiny on your holiday shopping list, we already know there’s a really good chance you’re going to get them baby socks.

So why not take the opportunity to introduce the kid to the classics? We found these adorable, and incredibly hip, Converse-esque booties that will help coax the baby into appropriate shoes when they’re ready (as opposed to pink sparkly Crocs, which seem to stick to every four year old in Manhattan).

The teeny-tiny socks, from designer Jenny, come in a set of six different colors, so your infant friend can coordinate with his or her favorite jumpers.

The socks are also great for parents who don’t love the aggressively cute, or aggressively “hip” baby wear hitting the market lately - would you dress your kid in a onesie that reads “I’m a spoiled brat”? Obviously not.

We’re sure Baby will be grateful in the long run, too - just be prepared to have a little person begging your vintage sneakers off of you in about twelve years.

These socks are actually by Trumpette - they are the girl version of the "Johnny's". If your shopping for a baby girl the mary jane ones are much cooler. I buy these for my son all the time, but at 25 bucks a box they are a bit pricey. They also sell them online at Kitson.com in the kids section.

Thank you! My friend/teacher recently had a baby and I've been trying to figure out what to get her for the little one. Perfect timing or what?

At first I thought, can someone really be knocking off baby socks? But these are actually the original Trumpette socks. The style is called Jenny, not the designer. I particularly like the maryjanes, myself.
