Streetwalker: Pleat Pleat

Dec 13, 2007 @ 1:43pm

Caitlin Streetwalker.JPGCaitlin, 17, Irregular Choice sales clerk

Spotted Her: At the opening of the new Irregular Choice shoe store on Lafayette.

Stalked Her: The swishy yellow dress caught our eye. And then we noticed the bright orange nails.

Shot Her: The fitted vest is a clever way of cinching her pleated dress- much more original than a hum-drum wide belt.

She Says: “The dress is from H&M. I just moved to New York, and my friends helped me pick out my outfit. They’re both first-years at Parsons.”

We Say: Buzz Buzz.

at first glance I thought she was that Marc Jacobs receptionist from when Lauren went to help out during fashion week on The Hills...I don't know why?

I like it a lot. Especially the color of the dress and her ring.

I'm not crazy about the outfit at all, but she's a cute girl. I do hope that, now that she lives here, she'll explore all of the interesting shops on her own and create her own look, instead of relying on her friends to dress her. (And I hope her friends will develop better taste in their second semester at Parsons.)

I'm madd for the glasses and bright orange nail varnish! However I think the dress make her little frame look quite wide and off balance! This outfit seems very much like a little girl dressing up as the cool-i don't give a damn--East village chick, for halloween!

Really? She does nothing for me. I see girls dressed like that all over Parsons all the time [granted in Marc by Marc by Marc by Jacobs...or w/e he's pulling these days] and they pull it off a lot better. It looks like someone dressed her instead of her dressing herself.

the glasses don't make much sense with the outfit, but i do like it overall i think.

the outfit is simple and cute, and her hair is obviously the greatest accessory... perhaps the problem is that it's not streetwalker worthy. i'd be more inclined to think "that's cute" than "WHERE'S MY CAMERA?!"

The dress does nothing to de-emphasize her lower torso, which, in this picture makes her look practically pregnant. The glasses really hide what a cute face she has too. Great hair though!

ummm.. eeewww! theres absolutely nothing fashionable about her outfit. i mean, i see the attempt an all but its not working! The glasses and vest should go (although it doesnt look bad as such) and the stockings (altough i also like them) should be replaced by turquise stalkings or smth and purple/brown ankle boots if shes feeling the bizarre look and yet wants to be stylish.

Like the dress, but not the vest so much. Also, 17 and drinking wine? She must have a good fake.

I want her glasses. Is it MJ?

I like her style, but it's not fresh. I did the whole vest/dress thing all spring/summer. But she looks cute.

Ahh, the word is stockings please! Definitely not stalkings. Sorry but it is much harder to take your critique seriously considering the abuse of language.

That is all.

And for the record I think the outfit is cute but 17-year-olds shouldn't be drinking wine and Fashionista shouldn't be putting up pictures of underage girls drinking.

the larger photograph is definitely stretched in an unflattering way. but you can still tell that she's gorgeous. i have a hard time believing she had friends pick out the clothes for her...you can only rock an outfit like this if you love it yourself.

she looks perfect head to toe!

It's STOCKINGS people, STOCKINGS, not stalkings.

I like it... Her hair is amazing. I think for a 17 year old, this is a very cute outfit. I do agree with the poster who said if they saw this they would sooner think "cute," before they thought "grab the camera!"

that vest is horrible.
maybe if it fit differently it would look okay but it makes her look huuge!!

I would never dare wear a fitted belt with something that pleated. It gives automatic bulk.

Using a fitted vest vs. a belt is such a great idea! I like the outfit only for that reason.

I love the little vest idea for cinching a dress. I'm getting bored with my flowy short shifts and I'm really over the big wide belt trend.

I also love the glasses, but that is probably because I wear similar ones! :)
