chantel lee sweater.jpgYou know that old sweater you keep meaning to wear on a snow day, the one stuffed between fuzzy ear muffs and Grandma's scarf in the bottom drawer?

Accept the fact that you'll never wear it. Ever.

Instead, consider Banana Republic and Goodwill's ingenious "Share the Warmth" promotion, where you don't have to feel guilty about buying more clothes - because you can also help other people get dressed in the process.

Beginning today, shoppers who donate sweaters at any Banana Republic store will receive 30% off a new sweater (excluding cashmere - sorry, not our rule). All donations support local Goodwill job training and career services.

Sweaters should be "gently used" and donated by December 12th - and if you take a heap of yours, you can pretend you also donated your boyfriend's sweater by mistake - while really stealing it for yourself...

That is an extremely disorienting angle.

PS: I think the sweater-credit exchange is a wonderful idea!

Thank you for mentioning this promotion!! I'm going to be personally picking up all donations made to DC-area Banana Republic stores...so go for it. The money raised at Goodwill retail stores in our area support job training and employment for the disabled and disadvantaged. So you're looking good AND doing good. Nice! -the DCGF

P.S. - I agree with RayBay; Chantel looks like she has a two-foot long neck.

I worked for Gap Inc. and we did the same thing last year with pants. Bring in a pair of pants and get one 20% off. Honestly, the turn out wasn't as great as I hoped it would have been given the great opportunity for Goodwill and us as consumers. Hopefully they'll have a better turnout this year!

Thanks for posting about this promo! I work at Banana Republic at the Mall of America in MN, our customers have been really excited about this and it's nice to be able to donate the sweaters to a great cause, when I worked today, on a relatively slow day, we had two boxes full of sweaters. It's nice we can promote the true meaning of the Holidays where it is about giving. Thanks everyone!
