Who Wore It Better: YSL Splatter Paint Dress

Dec 12, 2007 @ 10:30am

roopal and demi moore in ysl.jpg When we saw Bergdorf Goodman fashion director Roopal Patel in YSL's splatter paint dress, we were so excited.

The dress is age appropriate for almost everyone. The shape flatters almost every body type. The pattern is fresh and exciting without being overbearing. In short, the whole thing was cool.

So cool, in fact, that the outfit's already happened.

Intern Britt pointed out that in June, Demi Moore wore the YSL splatter paint dress in Los Angeles, when Stefano Pilati paid a visit to the Hollywood Hills to present his latest resort collection.

We love the way both women wear the dress, because it's an amazing dress, but who wears it better?

(Actually, better question - if we bought a white shift at H&M, and some good acrylic paint at Lee Art Supplies, could we make the same one?)

Demi looks too precious for something that is a little avant garde. She looks like she dirtied herself at the table. Roopal looks "not too done" which is how you need to look it you want to carry this off effortlessly. Definitely Roopal.

It looks good on both. However, I would like to see what shoes Demi is wearing.

def Roopal. Because she didn't pair it with a black clutch and went a little more daring on the accessories..

Roopal hands down. Plus, as the fashion director of Bergdorfs you know she carefully selected it herself. While Demi on the other hand probably had the dress chosen for her by a stylist.

Hey
Can Faran or someone at the Fashionista.com staff find out what's going on at Conde Nast. There's a lot of switching with staff and different publications. Maybe someone you know can tell you something.

There's always a lot of switching at Conde, I wouldn't get too worked up.

Demi Moore...the dress fits her body better. It's too big on top for the other one, at least going by these pictures.

they look the same: long, wavy dark hair worn down, clutch purses and simple heels. the dress fits demi better, but that may be the photo angle...i like demi's make-up better, too. i feel like Roopal's lipstick is too much.

i would say demi. she suits it more because of her quirkier features and natural looking long loose waves. the black purse is also a simple contrast to the colourful dress. roopal's haircut doesn't suit the dress at all. her accessories also make the outfit even more busy. she looks a bit like a house wife trying to look cool. demi is effortless cool.
