I don't get it cause i always think Bvlgari is the Ancient Roman form for Bulgari. Their website also reads bulgari (www.bulgari.com)
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulgari
or the joke lies somewhere else and i missed it?

the joke is simple: bvlgari is a luxury goods/jewelry company in italy. they do not make dresses. the reporter clearly was covering an event to which she had no knowledge of what the sponser does, when it is her job to know.
the reason that the website is bulgari.com is simply because that is how it is pronounced. but the branding "logo" is bvlgari, the same way that chanel is interlocking "c"'s or lanvin is "lanvin".

'the reason that the website is bulgari.com is simply because that is how it is pronounced.' - Not true.
Bulgari is the family name of the founder, Sotiro Bulgari. Anything lower-case is still spelled the same way as the family name. The brand name, remains in upper-case BVLGARI.

I hate dumb "reporters" who don't do their homework. Annoying....
