ELLE's New Reality: Tyra?

Jan 31, 2008 @ 1:17pm

tyra hair flowing.jpgWe were shocked to learn that Tyra is starting yet another reality show, about breaking into fashion magazines nonetheless.

Now, we're even more shocked. Why? It turns out that the magazine in question is not one of the less exciting books like everyone expected - it's fashion giant ELLE.

WWD reports that Creative Director Joe Zee and Fashion News Director Anne Slowey are close to closing the deal to play the judges on the new show. The contestants will compete for a position at ELLE working under Zee.

Oh, and the working title for the soon-to-be TV addiction? Wait for it... "Fashionista".

We kid you not.

This sounds horrible. It trivializes the fashion magazine industry.

bad idea #2342938472984729387. I still can't believe Elle would consider this, their stock would plummet!

I'm not a fan of Tyra..I think she's trying too hard to be the next Oprah.

As long as they don't try to take your domain name away from you, it could lead to increased traffic.

I think it's a poor choice to name the show, though. At least call it "Tyra's Fashionistas" or something like that. This blog will always come up before the show in Google.

i got a myspace message asking to fly in for a casting/audition, and turns out when i get there i have to be 18 when i apply, not by the time the show goes on. stupid fuckss

you can apply online, but the casting is done. but you can send in homevideos, which i was going to do- until they payed for my plane ticket!

the shows going to be lame anyway.

I have much admiration for Joe Zee and the Elle Staff to hear this I have to reconsider sending in my resume for an internship, I guess I will have to stay at my current internship at another high end magazine.

Very Disappointing!

It's been done. To death.
And I say this as a total fashion mag addict.

Anne's move totally lowers ELLE's reputation as a major fashion magazine, to me at least

there is a difference between representing yourself on project runway, which for one is a bravo tv program aka: good reality tv, fabulous, and is actually pleasing to watch and whose contestants are not all wannabes, and representing yourself on a show with tyra banks as the host and producer.

wtf are you thinking?

(oh and tyra, just because the biggest thing that happened to you was being a victoria's secret model, does not mean you have the ability to act like the "god" of modeling world and think you know everything in the world. who do you think you are oprah? oh and how many of your models receive castings after the elle girl cover shoot, which is a required one because its part of the prizes?)

side note to hillary: you thought appearing in Vogue would make you look too "feminine", well honey what kind impression do you think you made of yourself when you appeared on the tyra banks show?!?!, of all the shows you could have picked to be on you picked the lousiest one. smart move.

Oh shut up about Hillary. She didn't want to appear elitist either. The last thing she needs is more criticism from some ignoramus on a fashion blog. Her choices aren't as easy to make as Obama's when the entire world is criticizing everything she does, wears, says even though their policies are virtually identical. People shouldn't vote on what magazine someone appears on anyway.

"This sounds horrible. It trivializes the fashion magazine industry."
That must be one of the funniest lines ever written.
