“I saw Uma ahead of me. I caught up with Uma in the backstage and asked her what she thought of the show, half embarrassed that I bothered. “I have no comment to make at this time,” she said, as if she had said it a million times before. Okay. Wouldn’t “beautiful” have worked just as well?” — Cathy Horyn, rock star, on Uma Thurman, total disappointment.

She's an actress, maybe she is using the stale line to cover her true feelings.
It's like replying to "How are you?" with "Fine" even though you are having the worst day ever and don't intend on sharing that fact with anyone.
She could be really upset that Valentino is retiring. I would say "no comment" to hold back my tears if I was in her position...

I am with Kate and Fashionista.
She is a public figure and should be expected to ask just a reasonable question related to the event she was at.
If she was asked about to comment about Heath Leger or Global warming then the cold shoulder would have been expected.

This is not a big deal. So she didn't feel like being interviewed. You never know what a person is going through and she could have had an off day.
