Karlie's representatives at Elite counter that the story's a lie, and we should see Karlie back in New York next month for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. More proof seems to be on Teen Vogue's website, where a new video of Karlie (plus Chanel Iman and Ali Michael) shows the St. Louis sophomore looking like a goofy and wiry adolescent for sure, but definitely not sick (or even tired, for that matter). Actually, the whole thing reminds us of the Nikki Taylor covers for Seventeen, a staple of unattainable prettiness from our junior high years. This doesn't mean that a real discussion about teenagers in the fashion industry shouldn't happen, or that it's a great idea for grown women to crave the features of developing girls.
