Karlie Kloss Is Healthy; Cool

karlie.JPG We hear a lawsuit may be in the making, thanks to a slanderous model blog that insisted yesterday the model Karlie Kloss, 15, is in rehab for anorexia.

Karlie’s representatives at Elite counter that the story’s a lie, and we should see Karlie back in New York next month for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

More proof seems to be on Teen Vogue’s website, where a new video of Karlie (plus Chanel Iman and Ali Michael) shows the St. Louis sophomore looking like a goofy and wiry adolescent for sure, but definitely not sick (or even tired, for that matter). Actually, the whole thing reminds us of the Nikki Taylor covers for Seventeen, a staple of unattainable prettiness from our junior high years.

This doesn’t mean that a real discussion about teenagers in the fashion industry shouldn’t happen, or that it’s a great idea for grown women to crave the features of developing girls. Regardless, it’s nice to get confirmation that Calvin Klein’s newest face is doing just fine.

So, to reiterate:

Karlie Kloss = healthy, pretty.

Us = hungry, also pretty.

The end.

Karlie Kloss is like seriously one of my newest favorite models. She's even almost got Eugenia Volodina beat. And that's a hard sell.

I just watched that video. How cool did Ali seem? Chanel, not so much. But Karlie seems like a cool, down to earth girl. I'm what was being said is only a rumor.

I just watched the video too and I really wish I hadn't. I mean they look healthy and pretty, but they also looked juvenile (which admittedly they are) and kind of lame. I guess I like illusions and I really don't want to hear models, especially models too young to be really interesting, talk.

Agreeing with the 2:24pm guest... I'm getting sick of these younger and younger models being propped up as role models.

Like seriously, a 14/15 y.o. who probably wouldn't/couldn't afford or like to buy the clothes they're sporting is going to be my role model on how to dress myself?

At least I like it when Marc Jacobs uses someone like Jennifer Jason Leigh... a stylish, older woman who's showing off the clothes in a unique way.

And let's be real about this...."healthy" is a stretch of the term, when used with models, as much as I love some of them. They know that they're walking hangers, and that they won the genetics jackpot for the job that they're doing. Point-blank.

I hate watching videos of models! Pictures don't usually convey just how skinny they are. It kind of hurts to watch them move, but also they make me feel huge. Maybe I'm just jealous; I'm pretty sure it's just good genetics though; I don't think Karlie seems anorexic. (though if I just saw her walk down the street I might think she was!)

totally agreed, although I adore karlie, she is really still a newcomer to fashion and i'd rather hear what seasoned veterans have to say rather than gorgeous little ones who've only dipped their toes into the crazy fashion pool.

Btw - it was hilarious watching chanel talk over the other girls, especially when asked about music and then ali comes in socalmly and sounds so much cooler.

my favorite part of the whole thing is how the picture on the original entry isn't even karlie.

i can confirm that karlie is NOT in rehab- i am a good friend of hers and i go to school with her. she eats more then most girls i know. she has always been tall and lanky, since we were really little. karlie and i are freshmen and reading those rumors about her is like rumors we deal with in high school-that is really sad!

Ok, usually I could care less, but this rumor made me proper upset. Who the f*ck makes up a rumor like that? And it's not like we're talking kate moss. TV cover, or not, this kid's a virtually unknown 15-year-old. Sick!

I think it can work a couple of ways. I don't think it's fair to say that 14/15 yr olds aren't interesting because I'd argue that they can be some of the more interesting people with a fresh take on life, art, creativity. I say the younger that people really start embracing their individual interests and pushing it, the better for them. so if that's what these girls are doing with fashion, music or whatever, who are we to say they're boring. what we're seeing in that video is that they're probably just not groomed for the camera.

That said, I definitely hate the idea of these babies being the standard for beauty in the industry where the consumers can barely remember what it's like to be 16 and aren't really trying to go back there. An older, more mature model, please.

And to astragirl02, Marc Jacobs isn't exactly ahead of the game in choosing older models. let's not forget the creepy miss dakota fanning.
