Little Girls, Little Girls...

raincoat.jpgWe have a confession to make, we love kid's clothes - for us. They're the perfect untapped resource, often half the price, lately just as stylish, and less likely to be seen on everyone in the city.

So we were scrolling through the GapKids site and found this too-good-to-be-true raincoat. (Natalie doesn't believe me, but I'm going to buy it as soon as I leave the office.)

It might be the cutest raincoat we've ever seen, aside from the Burberry trench we'll be lucky to afford ten years from now.

GapKids sells their clothing in such big sizes that we can almost always fit into the XXL (we're an adult size 8) - and it even has a hood!

If you're not one to wear a cherry-splattered raincoat, or you work in a more conservative environment where people would gawk rather than giggle, check out this boy's uniform blazer. It's navy blue, on sale and the perfect way to achieve a preppy 3/4 sleeve look that we swear will work with 99% of the clothes in your closet.

We hope it rains tomorrow!

My favorite blazer ever came from gap kids, it was the perfect shade of dark denim with the perfect amount of stretch in it. I left it at a restaurant and never saw it again. I was really upset about the loss for like a week.
I also love the little boys button-down shirts from there. Gap Kids is my secret shopping place for wardrobe staples.

Me too! And not ALL kid's clothes, it's usually Old Navy and Gap kids that do amazing things.... And totally true about the sizes.

I used to get a lot of things at the kids gap, now I'm just too tall for them. Otherwise I probably still would. They sell almost identical things sometimes. Think cable knit sweaters, shirts, little jackets, hoodies. And for so little. I tell really thin friends to look through the kids department at thrift stores, because they never know what they are going to find.

My New Years' outfit was a poufy red tafetta skirt from Gap Kids with an American Apparel bodysuit and it was awesome. I also love the boys' pajamas and sweats.

That raincoat is cute! I actually got my ballet flats from GapKids, it's what happens when you're a size 5.5 =/

You touched on the main problem when you said 3/4 length sleeves:

I'm 5'9. None of the sleeves fit. But I frequent the little boys department of H&M for T-shirts.

Shopping in the kid departments of stores is wonderful.
For example, Abercrombie [kids] and Abercrombie and Fitch sell almost identical denim, but the kids are at least half the price of the A&F swag.
But if you are 5'2" and below, the pants are quite long.

even cheaper than gap kids for boys' school uniform blazers is goodwill or any other thrift store. like $5-$7, so cheap. i didn't mind the 3/4th sleeves thing...my problem when i used to do that was they wouldn't button b/c of my boobs :-(

I'm still shocked that a little boy's blazer costs $70. Kidding? right? I can find much better deals in the women's section. As far as kids clothes go though, I do admit to using this as a resource sometimes... it is fun to tell someone who asks what you're wearing! ;)

Loved this tip, I've been searching for a shrunken bomber jacket forever, so I hit up Burlington Coat Factory-far from couture I know, but I found the most adorable lilttle boys jacket which on me looks like a fab cropped leather jacket with 3/4 sleeves! I love it its perfect with my black lace baby doll dress! And I only spent $40 and its real leather too!Yay!
