Meet Seung-Hyoni

Jan 17, 2008 @ 9:28am

ford supermodel.jpgThanks to Casting Director, we've been kind of following the Ford Supermodel of the World 2008 contest, which came to its grand finale last night.

This year's winner is Seung-Hyoni, a 19-year old from Korea who, judging by the photo at left, might be a lot of fun at the movies.

The contest doesn't get a whole lot of press until it hits television about a century after the fact, at which time everyone will act like the winner is the next Heidi Klum, even though you may never hear her name again.

In fact, the only famous models we can think of who placed significantly in the contest are Adriana Lima, who came in second place in 1996, and Chanel Iman who came in as third runner up a couple years back.

But we have a special feeling about Seung-Hyoni - we think she's especially adorable, so hopefully she'll take the cover of V route rather than Victoria's Secret catalogues...

Her name is just Seung-hyun/hyon, the "i" is probably her last name (Lee)

she works for American apparel she photographs and models for them. She takes a lot of her own pictures. If I remember correctly from my time with aa she is the girl on the packages of pantyhose

I love Hyoni. Very cute, and actually has some spark, unlike most newbies today. The girl who placed 4th was also great, redhead British tomboy with a fun personality. The other winners were typical Ford Faces... somewhat boring.

Adriana was with Elite and not Ford. Other winners who "sorta" made it big time were Nataliya/Ukraine and Camilla/Brazil.

Congrats to this gorgeous girl! I love that she is quirky, non-Caucasian, and old enough to legally work and buy a drink (at least up here in Canada!). I've always felt that Asians are hideously under-represented in the model world. Kudos Ford!

Who styled the runway show? I love Stephen Sprouse as much as anyone, but garish ill-fitting clothes from 8 years ago? What a mess.
