Are you really trying to suggest that Obama is being judged by the same standard that Hillary is? There are certainly prejudices and preconceived notions that they both have to overcome, but this is one of those situations where she was damned if she did and now is damned that she didn't. If she had appeared in Vogue, she definitely would have been accused of being too superficial, vain and elitist.

Oh Obama. He's run such a graceful campaign. Too bad he's not much of a candidate. He hasn't made many policy accomplishments, and his speeches are both mundane and his programmatic vagueness is just annoying. He hasn't even served a full term as a senator. =\
I'm sure Hillary had her reasons for not being on the cover. She has a complete team of campaign advisors, and I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.

You have to be pretty ignorant to think that appearing/refusing to appear on the cover of Vogue is going to prove in any way relevant to Hillary's campaign. Anna Wintour may be supremely powerful in the fashion world, but that's about as far as it gets. What, am I going to vote for a president based on how "mannish" s/he dresses, or how fashionable s/he is? Jesus. This is why our country is in the shitter.

^^Um thank you,yes i am sure everyone knew that alredy, but you dont have your facts straight she was on the December 1997 cover, not 2003!
However this is about Hilary turning down a new cover recently.
I personaly do not buy the "she would come off to elitist" if she did it.First;she alredy was on the cover of Vogue, and second i happen to think voters are intelligent enough not to look at it that way,i sure wouldnt. And Anna's Vogue has became very Political in the past few years so it wouldnt be that far off,imo that is.

I agree with the commenter who said she is "damned if she does, damned if she doesnt.". Obama and Hillary have very similar stances, and the amount of Hillary hate and Obama love ASTOUNDS me. She is by no means held to the same standards as the attractive, charismatic, *can do no wrong* senator.

Vogue is snobby... i refuse to read it anymore. Teen Vogue is just as awful... i don't think middle class girls (whom i'm assuming are a majority of Teen Vogue Readers) need to see girls their own age wearing Vera Wang for their sweet 16's... it's elitism. Plus, teen vogue basically hired a college dropout as an intern- just to get an mtv show. It probably worked for sales, but ugh, how disgusting. I'm sure there are a million girls that are smarter and more stylish than LC.

I love Fashionista but this is sort of an ignorant entry. To assume we know anything about Hillary's choice, about the hours and hours of research done about her constituents, about how ridiculously difficult it would be to try to be the first female president and how everything you did would define what is female in America....i think there's most likely another side to things other than just what Wintour says.
