Proenza Digs Cliques, Not Clicks

proenza-schouler-lg.jpg File under classic:

We just got an email, addressed to the FabSugar team but somehow sent to us, saying that FabSugar wouldn’t be allowed into the Proenza Schouler show.

Now granted, we’re pretty sure we’re not getting any tickets either (though actually, we’ve been before). But we’re a little miffed (okay, fake miffed, actually giggling) that one blog email is just the same as another to some PR firms.

Whether blogs should be let into big fashion shows is of course another issue, and one we’re not prepared to wrestle right now - but we do find it funny that Jack + Lazaro’s most useful fans are the bright young things like Victoria Traina and Jessica Joffe and Stella Schabel, girls whose every outfit get chronicled by us, by WhoWhatWear Daily, by pretty much the fashion blogs and no one else (unless US Weekly really wants to tackle the “Who Wore It Better: Arden Wohl or…” issue).

Surely if they want a youth-infused brand, they’d also want youth-infused branding, i.e. the Internet?

But what do we know - we’re just a bunch of girls who bought a Rag + Bone skirt yesterday instead of anything on the Proenza rack at Barneys.

Aww.. don't 'hate' P.S. I absolutely love them. If they ever created a mens line I'm positive that I would pinch every single penny I ever encountered so I could buy everything they ever made.

Aw, poor Fab girls and all of the many bloggers out there. Boo Proenza. Sigh, when will the world catch on that blogs are going to take over everything! ;)

Julie, Sarah and Megan from Coutorture here! We got a giggle out of this when our sisters at Fabsugar pointed it out to us.

We have managed to make it in to Proenza as a general rule but let's just say that PR Consulting doesn't actually know about it!

We are giggling with you!

you girls are so funny! i'm an online fashion editor/writer myself and yes we are breaking down those ad money-driven conglomerates one site at a time! but oh the perils we must endure! i've established a policy of reaching out to PR co.'s out of courtesy knowing i likely won't get in -at least to shows like this. however, i am an infamous front row crasher -not by intention at all (i swear). i've just been in NYC long enough to know the right people and when i get there i am somehow swept right in and on most, yes most, occasions land in the front row. this is the most hysterical and entertaining part of fashion week for me. i'm the most anti 'do you know who i am?' person and somehow this happens. this being said, i wanted to share with you (and your readers so please feel free to write about it) that when i do get rejected by these top shows it is w/courtesy and professionalism. HOWEVER, i received the RUDEST response from Malan Breton! Of all people! Firstly, like i would EVER make it to BP at 9am for some PR reject! i can hardly make that sort of sacrifice for the PR finale show! it took all my strength not to tell him i'd only sent the e-mail so he'd have our address on file and not because i had any interest in his show. but again, professionalism and respect -this is why i am keeping this anonymous! plus crashing front row is SO tacky -but it just happens! i know, i'm nothing more than a seat-filler. i'll take it, along with my fab photos!

How great that the coutourture team is proud of sneaking into fashion shows. This brand of behaviour will guarantee they will never be respected as professionals. Not to mention the consistent badgering and self-righteousness, as evident in last year's CFDA snafu.
