Streetwalker: The Sartorialist Gets Shot

Scott new close up.jpgScott Schuman, aka The Sartorialist, Photographer

Got Him: Celebrating the opening of his exhibit with a private viewing at The Danziger Gallery in Chelsea last night.

Stalked Him: Well, because he’s the Sartorialist! But also because we’ve never seen a man so impeccably dressed in clothes that fit so precisely.

Shot Him: He’s like the god of streetwalkers. And last time we caught him he was busy in action - we thought it was time for a close up shot.

He Says: “The suit’s Boglioli. I mean, I can sleep in this suit, I can shoot in it. It’s not incredibly expensive. Most of the time I’m moving around so I need to be comfortable. The shoes are Vass, super comfortable, super awesome. Shoe trees are key. I always pay extra for my overweight luggage when I head to Europe and it’s all for the shoe trees. I mean if i have a thousand dollar pair of shoes, I want them to last. If something’s bespoke, I want it to work well.”

We Say: It works very well.

You guys really do need to get a better camera or at least lighten the picture a bit in post. You can't see the fabulousness of the suit.

Sharp, easy, clean. Effortless and fabulous. Sexy without being too Tom Ford about it.

Really? I like his shoes. Chic without being too man-fashiony, if you know what I mean.

You claim that the suit fits precisely but then, why does it seem like the hem is too short?
PS - the shoes don't work with it. No matter how you throw it, they just don't work.
pin stripes tend to require something more... polished.

Guys, guys, guys! The short hem is call "no-break." Check out Thom Browne for reference. And the shoes are perfect. Expand your style horizons, in this case - to across the pond. There is more to style than looking like you got attacked by a thrift shop. This look is unimpeachable.

I think the shoes with that suit make it look like he's trying too hard, especially since he's obsessed with random/unexpected accessories. Also, he looks like a sausage stuffed in that suit. I like him and his blog and his GQ pages, but this is unfortunate.

what are we supposed to see? the man behind the blog? or the sartorialist spirit from the former salesman? because these pictures (mho) show me more of the salesman story than the shuman blogger. Practical and geeky but very infatuated. No matter the clothes, he's stealing the eye with his unglamorous attitude.

It's upsetting how much I idolize him... it's a little awful, but deliciously deserved.

Check out todays Thursday Styles and see an exact replica of this outfit, and how fab the author David Colman thinks a navy suit, brown shoes and an unbuttoned white shirt sans tie really is. For all you doubters out there, time to take a real pros word for it.

love the suit, the length is no break, as stated above, but the pants don't fit - look at the crotch where it's bunched. double vents on the back are nice, but again, unsure if the jacket fits in the front. u all are easy to please on men's fashion. :)
