The It Is Gone

LV duffel.JPGEverybody's mourning the death of the It Bag.

Nobody wants to carry one, buy one, or talk about how they can't get one. In fact, according to the Wall Street Journal, the sudden aversion to It Bags has resulted in brands like Marni, whose bags don't advertise the brand with an official logo anywhere, doing very well, while we start to see less and less LV logos carried down the street.

We kind of think this is great since we've always hated heavily branded items that feel more like merchandise than fashion. And if there really is a move away from bags with huge namesake badges, then we can't wait to see what companies like Goyard and Dooney & Bourke will come up with in place of their usual approach.

But does this mean that the next time the pendulum swings, the logo-ed bags that will surely come back into style will be even bigger and badder (so much badder,) than in recent years?

You heard it here first: LV duffel bags large enough to hold a tent, S/S 2012. Oh, wait, those already exist...

GOOD RIDDANCE! I hate bags that are billboards. And most of the ones you see on the streets (at least where I live) are so clearly fake.

Ok... if it's no longer fashionable to carry an It bag, and it's now fashionable to carry a non-It bag, does that not make the non-It bag the New It bag...?

Yeah, I have always hated the cheese factor of logos. I just want a nice, simple bag that can go with many things and not look like a walking billboard for nouveau rich tackiness.

high school kids and sorority girls will still keep it going since they see it as a form of self worth. and housewives. of course.

It won't be the bags that are bigger next go-round, it will be the logos. Instead of discreet logo patterns we'll have giant logos so big and obvious that the current crop of bags will seem subtle by comparison. Remember those giant logo Esprit t-shirts from way back when? Something like that.

At any rate, doesn't matter to me because I don't like to wear or carry anything with a logo splashed across it.

LV is classic and I believe it surpasses a trend. Sorority girls and housewives aside....it's just pretty and I like it.

FINALLY! Logoed bags are so tacky and trying too hard. For that reason I've had an aversion to LV since about 8th grade. I can't wait for bags that focus on style and not brand recognition.

But what will they sell on canal st??
