Agyness: Now in the Air

Agyness The Beat campaign.jpgWhat's that?

We're going to start seeing you around even more?

Fashion obsession Agyness, of course, is the face of the newest Burberry fragrance. And, of course, it's called "The Beat," meant to be a combination of attitude and energy (so edgy, so cool, so street, just like her!)

And the fragrance? Reportedly, "woodsy, sparkling and tea-infused."

As always, Aggy looks stunning. But we're having a hard time taking her facial expressions in the ads seriously -

There's something about the middle pose that says Zoolander a little too knowingly.

Though she does pull off the bra-over-top look quite well.

Actually, I think the, um "bra-over-top" look sticks out as the most ridiculous thing in this (faintly ridiculous over all) ad.

I remember flipping through the pages of Elle a week ago and shaking my head at how silly it looks, and how much it makes her chest look like a six year old boy's.

Although I hate Agyness with a passion, I don't think these ads are so terrible. However...why the constant posts about her? I feel like there's like 5 posts about her a day...aren't there other models out there to talk about?!

the marketing of perfume has always eluded me.....an "edgy" fragrance with "attitude"? i don't understand what that even means.

i guess i'm sort of in my own little bubble of smell (hey, could that be a new band name?)--mixing my own perfume oils. so, can someone tell me--does this sort of marketing actually describe perfumes accurately or no? it all seems to smell the same to me...maybe i just don't have a very sophisticated olfactory.

I thought "The Beat" was also supposed to be a Beatles reference.

i think she is absolutely adorable in person/casual shots and her personal style is awesome but as a model she can be really cheesy...i still love her though!

Faran,
I have no idea if you're aware of this but the SS08 Burberry ads have a delicious irony for moderately hip Londoners everywhere - the admittedly gorgeous Martin Tomlinson (the black-haired, ethereal-looking boy in the purple shirt) is in fact the singer of fiercely political, Libertines-baiting band Selfish C**t. The idea of a man who was once arrested for throwing horse manure outisde Buckingham Palace donning a sheer shirt for Mario Testino is surreal enough, but the fact that their first single was entitled "F**k The Poor" is completely hilarious. I can't think of a better way to say "Up yours" to the poor than dropping £1,500 on a trench coat.
