Barneys Warehouse Sale I Spy

barneys pull.jpgThere was no sign pointing us to the Barneys Warehouse Sale upon arrival (though of course it was conveniently propped up by the time we left) so we had to follow the trail of cute girls in running shoes clutching brown paper Barneys bags to find the front entrance. Once there, our hopes were squashed - the racks were not as fruitful as we had hoped.

Spied:

1. Lots of older men and lots of couples - we know what you’re getting for Valentine’s Day!

2. A rainbow of Lanvin F/W 07 with super-slashed prices.

3. Kate Moss for TopShop at an additional 25% off - And yet, racks and racks of it untouched

4. Shoppers bitching at the mandatory bag check - “Ugh! It’s the Goyard!” one whined when security took too long to spot her bag

Not spied:

1. Anything great in our size (including those Dries van Noten canvas tennies we had our hearts set on)

2. Dressing rooms— and we were leary to strip in fear of someone snatching up our actual clothes!!

3. Any punches thrown. Amazing.

Conclusion:

If you’re a size 5 or 12 shoe, it might be worth it to make your way down. If you’re somewhere in between, you can try your hunting skills, but we suggest champagne instead.

I've been to the sale quite a few times in LA, but I only ever see junk. Plus, clothes/shoes are thrown everywhere - these are not conditions I want to shop in.

Aren't these the clothes they couldn't get people to buy when they were in the store full price? and also at 30%, 50%, & 60& off...

I work NEXT DOOR to this sale. I both dread and look forward to this sale. I wear size 10 shoes (10.5-11 if they are French), and I scored some $150 Louboutins (and not espadrilles, but the black fishnet low heels) and $220 very comfy, very now black leather Costume Nationals. I swear that is it. I am not returning. The accessories sucked.

i disagree... i was at the sale when it opened this morning and was about 15th on line.

the were lots of clothes at decent prices,a wide selection of sizes and a good dress selection. the shoe selection wasn't bad either. tons of 3.1 phillip lim, marc by marc jacobs and alexander wang dresses and blouses. lots of mui mui and mbmj shoes. definately some prada around if you can dig.

i got a 3.1 phillip lim dress for $152- down from $524 and a pair of skinny Rag and Bone jeans for $79- originally $242.

i think it's worth the walk over- they are supposed to restock, so who knows.

jess-

obviously theres going to be a decent selection if you're one of the firsts in line lol... even if they restock, things will be seriously picked through by hour 2.

even in the topshop in london there are racks of the kate moss stuff that no one goes near. i tried some if it, but nothing fit well. i guess you need to look like kate to pull it off!
