Black Nails at Marc by Marc Jacobs!

Feb 06, 2008 @ 10:00am

2244812015_daeb7ba1d9-1.jpgMaybe Lauren Conrad really is the most influential person in fashion.

After all, at yesterday's Marc by Marc Jacobs show, there were black nails on every single girl - despite the fact that all the shoppers we know in New York, London, L.A., and Paris have moved on to blue, white, or even various shades of orange (our favorite is called "caution").

In fact, the only girls we do know who still rock black nail polish are Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, and Whitney Port.

As one model remarked, "It would be cool if the girls and the guys had to wear black polish because then it would be all, like, emo."

The good news:

If you bought eight bottles of Chanel Black Satin, you don't have to dump them out.

oh lord

as if the chicks from "the hills" had any kind of independent fashion know how. i don't care if they worked at teen vogue, all you need to do is take a look at lauren conrad's god awful clothing line. yikes.

that being said, i just realized that in the past year i have only purchased one piece of clothing from marc by marc, in comparison to the oodles of marc by marc pieces hanging in my closet from years past. that line is changing, and getting a little...diluted?

or maybe i'm just getting old.

I was given a bottle of Chanel's Blue Satin for christmas and now after seeing it in a few magazines as being the new Spring color, I finally gave it a shot. It looks NOTHING like the rich midnight blue in pictures when you put it on. Even in bright light, it's pretty much BLACK!

I am not very fond of Marc by Marc clothing and don't see what the whole commotion is all about. Also "The Hills" is so uncool. Black nail polish will always be in depending on how you feel and what you are wearing. As for the Chanel Blue Satin well Midnight Blue usually looks like blue/black.... You only see the blue sometimes like a surprise.

as the past two guests had to say...that black may just be blue! i have the blue satin as well as opi's russian navy-both look black after a second coat. i'm sure marc is in on the navy trend...and who knows, lauren/audrina/whitney's may just be blue too!

i love bright orange nail polish! but i always go back to garnet-coloured-reds.

i think everyone should have a signiture colour. i still rock out the black sometimes. but hot oranges are my favourite breakaway colour for the moment.
