DIY: YSL Star Necklace

YSL Star necklace Fred Flare ice cream.jpg

From the moment we saw YSL’s star necklace, we knew we had to have it, one way or the other. But since it’ll probably retail for just under a bajillion dollars, we knew we’d have to be crafty about it.

So when we stumbled upon the Plexi Ice Cream necklace on fred flare, we knew we had it figured out.

The plan: Buy six or seven of the ice cream cones, cleverly string them onto some fat shiny ribbon (silver?) so they lay in a row like the YSL original, and tell people it’s custom made.

Total cost: around $80. Cuteness: Infinite.

Wow. Maybe it's just me but I actually HATE that star necklace. More power to you if you can pull it off.

I actually prefer the scoops over the stars.

I'm guessing you're on the "pro-prints" side of the rain boot debate?

This is an easy one! You know that wierd neon spot on Canal St. in Chinatown? They can cut any custom shape for you in plastic. http://www.canalplasticscenter.com
It costs about $35 to do, this is the sorta laser cutting technique Alex & Chloe uses.

Oof, seriously? But it's so insanely horrible. Looks like dog jewelry someone might try selling at the Young Designer's Market in Nolita. Unless you're afraid you might get hit by a car some dark night, skip this look.

Woah, that's some intense stuff. It looks good on the runway, but walking down the street? It's like a giant sign asking "MUG ME!". PLus those stars could be sharp.

I like the ice cream scoops more.
