We stayed home from Milan this season to show you things you might actually wear.
Namely, the latest collection from Old Navy – except, although it’s new, you’ve probably seen it before.
We know we have – the bold prints, the white shorts, the head scarves, all of it – as it walked down the runway last season at Diane Von Furstenberg.
Now, Old Navy is smart enough to not copy a DVF pattern, and what they’ve come up with on their own is really, really adorable.
But there’s something about the styling that just screams “Alek Wek on the runway last year!”
It’s a great look, it’s easy for many women to pull off, and it looks like Old Navy is going a long way towards facilitating that.
We just wonder how much cuter this stuff will be when you mix it with your own stuff, instead of matching it up with someone else’s luxe runway – like the shorts at left, with a threadbare band tee, could be kinda perfect.

I’m also very into Old Navy at the moment. I bought a dress there this weekend and I swear that if I had seen it at Bird, I would have paid $200 for it.

I like the new commercials but the trouble with Old Navy is that I find the fit isn’t always there. They have cute styles but if they don’t fit, why buy them?

Finally they figured it out! You make clothes for Old Navy that don’t look like they’re from Old Navy and people like them!

I adore Old Navy. Almost all of my clothes are from there and people compliment me all the time…if I tell them where my clothes are from they go nuts. They have really stepped up their game over the past few years and this is just the cutest collection ever.

are you kidding me? These clothes are so my highschool in New Jersey four years ago. I shudder…

When is this collection due in Old Navy stores? Those maxi-dresses will absolutely be part of my summer wardrobe this year!

those shorts and that blue geometric print scarf worn as a headband are pretty spectacular.

eh. some of it looks like it could be cute, but it’s true the fit is sometimes way off. I went this weekend and tried on a pretty cute dress, but the seams came apart when I took it off the hanger! You get what you pay for… and then there’s the question about labor practices that makes me shudder to think about.

I tried on a number of things in their current Urban Explorer line. Yes it looks fab on the models. In real, life, in the store, it’s a little off. I was disappointed with the fit and quality of a lot of the piece. (The fabric of the jersey dresses was particularly bad–cheap looking and scratchy.) I wonder if this new line will be any different.

I used to always have problems with the fit – that’s probably why I haven’t been there in 3 years or so but I saw the shoe’s fashionista had on the website a little bit back and wanted to check them out.
Fit was much better, I walked out with a lot more than the shoes. A shirt DID fall apart on me in the dressing room, but I really like the safari collection (and the prices that go along with it). It’s still hard for me though to think of Old Navy as anything more than a polar fleece outfitter but the more they keep this up the more apt I am to return.
