Attributing the pricing of luxury goods to taxes and the exchange rate demonstrates a gross misunderstanding of consumerism, not to mention, the economy. Chanel is not meant to be purchased by every girl on the street and that's just part of its charm.

I found this while doing my daily font nerding. I don't know about being a denim consultant. I do know about 3 to 5 hours a day of esthetic obsessing which usually takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. I do know this Gotham font was in the extras of the documentary HELVETICA and you can google it to watch the clip.
The CHANEL comment is a trip... the girls who read this site really take themselves seriously huh? The post was about a funny font observation, not about how charm comes from price tags & manipulated supply and demand.

if the goods are not manufactured in the currency they are priced in, then the exchange rate would definately affect the pricing of the goods. taxes would have less of a correlation but, as the guest at 1235 pointed out, chanel is not meant to be purchased by every girl on the street, so if more girls on the street can purchase chanel products due to low tax rates or rebates, chanel might raise their prices.
