Shopaholic's Product Placement!

That's twelve brand names, and that's three pages into the script of Shopaholic, which was either leaked to us or just shamelessly stolen from a film set last night. Shopaholic is a chick film based on a chick book currently in production in New York. The book has a dreaded pink cover and we suspect the film will, too.

The movie will star Isla Fisher, and we hope she's got some clause in her contract to get paid for all the brand-dropping. The costumes will obviously be by Patricia Field.

As for the script itself - well, much like the book, we couldn't stomach it, but maybe it'll be good because we adore Isla Fisher - even if the hysterical actress is 32, and her character in the script is 23.

Guess Anne Hathaway just couldn't deal with another movie about a girl who tries to work at a fashion magazine?

Is this the one that's been adapted from the Sophie Kinsella books? And does that mean the setting has now been moved to America? Odd decision, I'd have thought it would be given the whole Bridget Jones/Love Actually plastic London treatment...

Since Isla Fischer is British (or Austrailan?) I assumed the character Becky would be British/have an accent. I'm disappointed they're not being true to the book (which actually isn't about trying to work at a fashion magazine).

Well, you obviously haven't read the book. She works in finance...not at a fashion mag. It is disappointing if they set this film in the US.

Oh, pish tosh. Yes, this book is fluff -- but it's fluff made from the best kind of stuff. So excited for this movie, and Isla Fisher is the PERFECT Becky Bloomwood!

i am so excited they are making this book into a movie i have read all of them at least 12 times each

and fyi she doesn't try to work at a fashion magazine, she works at a boring finance mag and gives people financial tips and advice of saving money

ironically she is in debt herself from spending money not just on clothes but needless items like house decor luggage, etc. hence the name shopaholic.
