Stars: The New Floral?

Feb 29, 2008 @ 9:33am

topshop star print dress.jpgA recent discussion at the Fashionista office:

Natalie: Topshop releases a floral print mini dress like everyday.

Brett: I know.

Natalie: How did this start?

Brett: Liberty of London?

Natalie: I bet it was the Kate Moss one.

So we were delighted this morning to see not a floral print spaghetti strap ra-ra opening the "New In" page, but a star-print version instead.

Not exactly a 180 degree turn, but still, welcomed and a nice addition to our stash of April-ready clothes.

Thanks, Karl!

Stars just SCREAM mall punk poser. So tacky on anyone over the age of 15.

Oooh, I like. Didn't Leighton wear something nearly identical a few weeks ago?

The stars are all over jovovich-hawk for target, which currently, is all over me.

And they had a few star prints at Express over the winter,
I like the star print, I think its cutesy enough without bordering on 'whimsical', which is always the danger of wearing a floral.
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for mall punk, like pyramid studs on my purses...but in that classy, high-brow way.

No, really I swear!

The only things 'star' I like are 'Carrie Bradshaw-esk' like the necklace I purchased at the markets last weekend, the pendent is a star... no, I'm not sure Carrie ever had a 'star' around her neck, but I think she would have liked it (Pat Field too for that matter)...stars on clothes - no thank you... as guest of 10.42am says, only if you're under 15!

stars are for jewelry designs and not on clothes -- especially not a star pattern/print.
