YSL To Take Over the World

Feb 21, 2008 @ 1:54pm

When we got the press release announcing YSL's Manifesto, we had no clue what they meant (and neither did anybody else who wrote about it,) and so we didn't care.

But after a few phone calls, its turns out it might be worth waiting for.

This "manifesto" is more like a really on-the-street ad campaign that starts in Milan and London on Saturday, then moves to Tokyo on Sunday, and New York and Paris on Wednesday. The campaign, featuring Kate Moss and shot by Inez van Lamsweerde, will be handed out by some kind of street team to passersby, there'll be a video on YSL's site, blah blah.

The bright spot? There will be life-size installations on the streets of each visited city as part of the campaign - we could only confirm that they were going to be somewhere with lots of people, and they are most definitely not just billboards.

Possibilities:

1. A Kate Moss hologram ala McQueen walking down Fifth Avenue.

2. Kate Moss mannequins taking over the lawn of Central Park.

3. Kate Moss herself in the window of YSL's Madison Avenue boutique? (Don't rule this one out! Why else would YSL be so secretive?)

Guess we'll have to wait and see - In the meantime, here's a clip of Kate getting snapped for the campaign to ease the mid-day blues.

Can you please post something on Wednesday as soon as you find out what is going on in New York so the rest of us can check it out? Thanks! (Not that I would ever doubt that you would.)
