10 Questions for Project Runway... The Finale!

Mar 06, 2008 @ 1:09am

Project_Runway_3x03_03.jpgThis last Project Runway post is dedicated to the boys at Project Rungay, because they are darlings. And now, on with the show!

10. How sad are we that this is the last Project Runway? So sad. Okay, that didn't really count as a question.

10a. Something we wonder: If Rami is Muslim (as he said he was last week), then why is he always wearing a cross?

9. Christian, is Project Runway messing with your head... or just your hair?!

8. Oooh, who else spotted the COACD t-shirt during the model casting?

7. Does that New School commercial have a Goyard logo in it? It totally does! What?!

6. Is Posh's skin more orange than Posh's dress?

5. Is Jillian's collection a series of Ralph Lauren outtakes? Yes.

4. Has Rami stopped stealing from Doo.Ri and started stealing from Zac Posen? Yes.

3. How hard did you scream when Posh told Christian he was major?! Best. Endorsement. Everrrr.

2. Okay, wait, so where was Bon Jovi?

1. What will happen to Christian? No, really. Discuss.

Also: We don't know why Michael Kors thinks "Brady Bunch Colors" is an insult. It sounds perfectly Marni to us.

i plan on purchasing some of Christian's collection when it becomes available on Bluefly. And I think Christian is the most talented out of all the past winners. I can see him becoming successful in the future.

Bah. Christian was the totally predictable winner to me... Team Jillian!

Her clothes were way quirkier than anything Ralph Lauren!

I think it was really terrible that Christian won. Basically he just did a series of jackets with pants. I was honestly so bored and thought that all his clothes were impractical for a majority of women. The only reason he won was because Posh liked his clothes, which is terrible because I don't think she even dresses that well.

Jillian and Rami presented beautiful and diverse collections that really showcased them are talented and versatile designers. I was truly upset that neither of them won.

jillian's collectin was just beautiful. i can see everyone i know clamoring to own all those looks.

rami's collection stunk of rtw that i've seen over and over again. yes it was cute, but not memorable at all. it was so bcbg.

christian's was just on another level. who cares that not everyone can wear it, i wanted to watch his show over and over again. he's so inspired and so determined to keep going. definately we will see him making the fashion week rounds again, unlike past pr winners who have faded into obscurity, or worse - making appearances at the detroit auto show just to introduce a car (jeffrey) - and i remember the reason that they won is because "they were able to reach so many women" blah blah.

Christian ran away with this season from the very beginning. I think everyone knew Rami would be in the finale, but he limits himself too much to succeed overall...maybe he just takes himself way too seriously, and of course, Christian is the polar opposite.

Jillian was a suprise, and held her own with her collection. Her turning point began with the Twizzlers.

I think more than anyone, Christian has the ability to make a name for himself in fashion...he has the charisma, attitude & talent. Congratulations, Christian!!! Don't let that va-cay last for too long!

It was Jaslene...also Bianca from the previous ANTM season walked. Didn't she open Christian's show?

Yes, that was Jaslene. At the Tents, Sweet P and Chris March's collections preceded the final three and there were two other Top Model girls in there. Bianca opened for Chris March, tho I can't recall who was the third.

Also, why has no one mentioned that Jillian's is flagrant rip-off of Proenza Spring08? The kicky skirts under fitted armor and military-inspired jackets, the gilt dress that too closely suggests PS's feathered golden skirt? I thought it was quite pretty, but then, how can it not be when it borrows heavily from one of the best-reviewed shows of last season?

I cried a little when Christian won.

Woo! I totally tied for 1st this episode on the Fafarazzi game and came in 5th place overall. ^_^ Go Christian! Boo practicality. Who cares what most women want to wear? We've all seen what most women *do* wear, and I don't think that should be getting any awards.

Jaslene did walk, check the style.com, as well as Neabelle (sp?) one of the models from Janice Dickinson's agency.

Also, Rami Kashou is A Jersulem born, Ramallah raised Palestinian-Arab Christian.

I don't think he ever said *he* was Muslim, I thought the muslim reference was more to the area/culture...

correct me, If I'm wrong

Rami never said he was Muslim--he said he's an Arab from Palestine. There are plenty of Palestinian Christians, although they're a minority.

Christian needs a serious attitude adjustment if he's actually going to succeed. He made for great TV, but he could never treat his clients how he treated those on the show, and he couldn't keep an employee if he showed them all as much disdain as his competitors.
I think you misunderstood Rami when he was talking about the intersection of Christianity, Islam & Judaism in the West Bank. He isn't Muslim, but it's a large influence in the area he was raised.

Despite Christian not being my fave from this season (I think he's very talented, just not my cuppa), I really truly hope he's successful because I'd dearly love for SOMEONE from this show to become huge. I think having something from his line available ASAP on Bluefly is a step in the right direction, as long as they move fast to take advantage of the show's momentum.

That being said, I heart Jillian and want her entire collection plus that sweater dress she wore in my closet!

I feel like I have seen both Jilian and Rami's collections before. Both are talented and I have no doubt they are great designers but it lacked a fresh outlook.

Christian on the other hand is so talented it, I actually have a ohysical reaction to his designs. Even a mostly black collection was still inspired.

Yes it wasn't rtw but I think throughout the season he proved he could design rtw. It was his big break at fashion week, showing a fantasy collection was completely appropriate.

I am crossing my fingers he continues to make something with his winning and not go the way of seasons past.

Probably not, but I'll stick to her natural beauty and not wish eurocentric beauty standards on her.

rami has been doing that kind of work forever, so don't be so quick to say that he is "stealing."
he showed in la fashion week many a time with the same kind of work as what he showed now.

I am so HAPPY that Christian won. He is so young and already has this amzing ability. He obviously loves the drama, the avant-garde, and the artist side of fashion. It is also obvious that he has a real passion for what he's doing and wants to make a statement. His collection was NOT rtw, but who cares. In reality, everyone wants to go to the shows and be wowed by the clothes, not yawning at how "wearable" they are.
I would love to see Christian do a more high-fashion line (like what he showed) and then have a line that's more wearable; a sort of diffusion line of you will. He HAS to make something of his win. If he can't make it, no one from future PR seasons ever will.

And besides, Rami's and Jillian's collections were all pieces I've seen before. (Jillian: Balenciage w/o the Balenciaga, Ralp Lauren as the post said, and Proenza as someone else said). They were good collections that women would wear, but I'm glad at least one of the designers (Christian) showed us something different.

"Rami Kashou is A Jersulem born, Ramallah raised Palestinian-Arab Christian."

I'll spell it out...

He was born in Jerusalem
He was raised in Ramallah.

Within the culture of the country of Israel, his lineage has two significant factors (according to the previous poster...), that he is Palestinian and Arab. He is also a Christian.

*sigh* that's as layman as it gets.

I love Jillian so much, her designs but also her personal style and refinement. She should never straighten her hair, curly girls rule!! Her collection was good, I liked all of them really, but Christian's really did make an impact and I cried a bit when he won, too. You gotta love a personality like that.

I AM SO HAPPY CHRISTIAN WON!

I kept telling everyone that Christian and Jillian would make it to the finale. I figured Rami would be there but I so did not want him to win so I pretended he wasn't there.

Christian is great and funny. Yes he lays on the fierce and the attitude but he's still a kid and he's growing. I think he deserves a break on that.

Rami's gowns were excellent but everything else was bleah. I like Jillian for her new styles but Nina was right on when she said the collection lacked an identity.

Christian deserved it! I take back everything bad I said about the PR judges and the producers!

does anyone else who watched project runway canada think that rami's stuff looks really similar to all the pleating and weaving techniques that lucian and biddell used on that show? and they sure got praised to the high heavens for it.

I watched Canada and I didn't notice that much of a similarity, although Lucien was similar style-wise to Rami. Biddell was ..well he was biddell.

But I didn't save the shows so I can't compare! Maybe Rami watched it?

OR maybe he spied on them when Canada went to LA for that one challenge?

anonymoose: when heidi said she thought rami's weaving was so original and innovative i was SOO sure that someone had done it before! and it definitely was from pr canada. didn't lucian copy it from bidell too? or was it the other way around? i wonder what bidell is up to anyways...

Guys, I don't think anyone "owns" weaving... so I wouldn't say that rami "stole it" from another season of pr canada. Weaving has been around longer than pr... lol, I found on wikipedia that they found a fragment of weaving from 5000 BC, think Rami was there too? ;)

Did anyone else pick up on the "looking effortless" comment that Nina made to Posh? While I thought that Posh was a great and fun final judge and while I think that she has great, distinctive, creative, and amusing personal style, she never, never, never looks effortless.
