We think we just hit (in Faran’s words), reality TV meta overload -
We just got a glimpse of Christian Siriano’s first dress post Project Runway win.
And where did it appear? On television, of course!
American Idol contestant Kimberley Locke wore it during her performance last night.
We’re guessing this is just like a beginner’s Sudoku for Christian, who’s supposed to be designing for Posh, and who recently shouted dreams of making MK’s Met Ball gown.
So far the look is getting pretty mixed reviews online (everywhere from “fierce” to “hot tranny mess”), but if you’re interested and have $1,000 or so to spare, you can bid for it on Clothes Off Our Back.
If you really do love it, you’ve got about two weeks to come up with the cash. But it would be like a reality TV perfect trifecta if a winner from Amazing Race or Survivor was the one to actually win the bid.

It doesn’t look as stellar as his PR challenge designs, but to me the issue is it doesn’t suit her body. It cuts her right in half, and that horizontal line is at her widest part. I think something with a higher waist would have been much more flattering.
It looks kind of like a Sweet Pea design to me. (Although maybe he channeled Ricky a bit with the corset…)
I contend that the majority of women will look tore up wearing Christian’s designs. They don’t really flatter women with, um, boobs or body fat.
I adore Christian, but I think that had he left off the the extra layers on the skirt, the whole look would have seemed a bit more high fashion. Lack of editing is his biggest weakness.
I thought his first dress post Project Runway win was on Make Me a Supermodel for Holly, no?

Well, that dress was just a red and purple version of the brown and creme ombre dress he did for the PR finale.
My biggest problem with that dress is that they claim it’s a size six online.
Actually, his first dress was for Holly during last week’s Make Me A Supermodel episode. He said it made it specifically for her.
i think that kimberly is gorgeous, and i really like that dress, but the two together dont work. maybe he should have made something a little bit more forgiving for those with hourglass figures? something with a vneck halter and less going on around the hips?? in a brighter color, like blue? that dress belongs on keira knightly!

shows that he can’t design for a real woman..maybe for models. that dress is wrong on every level. worst of all it looks cheap. she is a gorgeous woman though.
Love the dress, just not on Kimberley. I actually think the problem with it is that it seems to tight. A size 6? Really? If he took it up a size or two, it would be more flattering on her. I don’t think she would be too happy with that suggestion, though.
Anyway, still adore Christian!
i totally disagree with most of these comments!! i love this dress.. i think its really flattering on her. makes her torso look long, and her curves look lovely. its easy for people to forget that for someone like christian, who’s used to designing for size 0 models, he did a great job with this.
if K. Locke is gorgeous, I’m Sophia Loren. I love the “She’s gorgeous, but the dress is bad.” No need for it, really.
