Lohan Dumped for Swank. What?

hilary swank in underwear.jpgPortfolio reports that Lindsay Lohan has lost her ad campaign for Jill Stuart.

The rehab refugee’s replacement?

Hilary Swank.

It’s true the actress has an Oscar, an immense amount of talent, and killer abs.

But would you buy a dress from her?

Our guess is no, and here’s why:

Because much like puppies can smell their own moms, young women can sense when someone has been dressed, versus when they’ve actually picked a gown off the floor and gone with it.

Ms. Swank’s talent and poise are her own. But her plunging silk necklines and diamond-dripped details?

Those seem more out of place on the Next Karate Kid than a polar bear in the desert (and yes, that was a vague Lost reference, with apologies).

We’ll see how Stuart’s profits do next season. And then we’ll applaud her team when they hire a new face, like Sienna Miller, and let Swank get back to acting.

But we all know that Lindsay will try and sell anything for money, so just because she's in another ad doesn't compel me to buy. Also I dont think she dresses well at all. Tights??! Come on. Hilary Swank, although of course doing it for money, is not as overexposed, and therefore more intriguing ....to me anyways... and I envy her abs..... =)

Don't apologize - LOST references are always okay in my book

I'll agree with this post only because La Lohan has nothing to fall back on, unlike Hilary Swank who can "get back" to acting.

Worst casting choices ever. Is Jill Stuart even relevant? Shouldn't they try to be more relevant with oh idk...models that make sense for the brand.

Hilary actually has 2 Oscars and I love LOST so the reference was a welcomed one.

Lohan is not a fashionista either. I much rather see Hilary in an ad than a talentless drug addict.

Forget the clothes....how much is Hilary willing to sell her abs for?

yes, i can probably imagine lohan as a fashionista. yet, i can't help but feel that swank has a mature, grounded appeal that lohan will never have. i think swank fits the elegant seriousness that jill stuart does so well.

Man, for my money, you've got this so backwards. Lohan isn't talented, comes off as bland and apathetic in interviews, and...just isn't that photogenic. And when she picks her own clothes, it's usually leggings and cigarettes. Is that style? Swank is smart, talented, every bit as cute as Lohan, and rocks a dress. I'd buy whatever she's selling.

This post makes no sense. Every celebrity, especially anyone in an ad, has been 'dressed'. The appeal lies in whether a celebrity is interesting to the public or not. For several obvious reasons, Lohan is more interesting than Hilary Swank. People hate or love her, whereas they are probably more ambivalent about Hilary Swank. She hasn't done anything interesting since divorcing her husband.

As for Sienna Miller being a new face... what?! She is completely overexposed, and her Tod's ads were ridiculously boring- the same expression in every photo.

I don't get your attitude about this. First of all, Jill Stuart is not that big of a brand, and Lindsay's involvement with it just shows how other, more successful brands that have used Hollywood celebs in the past (Chanel, etc) are not confident in hiring her anymore. Second, Hillary Swank is the face of a Guerlain fragrance line, a pretty big deal if you ask me. Hilary may not be as young or as hot as Lindsay, but her much lauded acting career and her success in fashion advertising (appearing in ads for Guerlain and Calvin Klein Underwear) make her a much bankable star. LiLo is damaged goods by this point. Her career is over, she's like a novelty act. I don't think any well-respected, fashionable brand wants anything to do with her.

Also, since when is Lindsay known for her great personal style? Please...

What about hiring a model instead of this celebrities?

And please Sienna Miller, the cut price
Kate Moss? Jill Sander is better than that.

Swank VS the other.

No comparison, and as far as class and pizazz go in a dress - I don't think she looks at all out of place. She is an elegant fabulous deal!

I think la Swank is sooooooo ugly. I cant even se her on the big screen, let alone get excited about anything shes wearing. Go back to acting darling... or stay at home.
