Marc Spoof - The Official Non-Explanation

Mar 19, 2008 @ 2:05pm

hart larsson.jpgSo we hunted down the duo responsible for the now already infamous Marc/Juergen ad spoof of SS08.

The guys responsible, from concept to styling, are Thomas Larsson, who played Borg, and Greg Hart, who played McEnroe, of creative agency Hart+Larsson.

The official explanation, via e-mail:

Hello Natalie.

We're photographers and filmmakers and advertising creatives.

We like to explore and to experiment and to challenge tired notions of what is and what is not.

The New Enthusiasm is our platform.

The New Enthusiasm is the new order of the very thing we are all witnessing.

We're huge Marc Jacobs fans. And Juergen Teller too.

We aim to flatter.

We thank you in kind.

Have a great day.

Hart+Larsson

But we bet you're still sitting there wondering, "why?"

To which they responded:

ohhhhhh Natalie, we love you and your persistence

For fun.

These are not scheduled to run anywhere but in your pretty little head tonight (just you wait).

We do, however, think Marc, were he as wise as he is (now) taut, should run them in a future issue of W (pass the word).

enjoy, h+l

And there you have it.

I'm sorry to say that after this I'll never be able to take the Marc Jacobs 'pseudo boredom' and haphazardly placed advertisements seriously again... I did like them in the past
I guess that's the point of parody, right?

I'm SO agree with xxi the only good MARC ads are the ones with dakota and posh (specially the posh ones....they are funny, appropriate, superb, POSH)and not because they're celebs... marc campaigns are lacking freshness, have you seen the men ads this season...come on Juergen after seen those ads I'm starting to like the pics of thenewenthusiasm....

Personaly i think Marc's ads have been lacking the edge and cool factor, however the S/S ones with Victoria Beckham are the best ads he has done in years, absoloutely brilliant.
