Rachel Bilson for DKNY

rachel bilson portrait.jpgIt looks like close friends aren't the only people that trust Rachel Bilson to design clothes - now a major company is putting their faith in her, too.

Rachel Bilson just struck a deal with DKNY Jeans to design her own junior sportswear line for them - and it looks like it might be the beginning of an ongoing partnership.

According to WWD, Rachel's line, which she's named Edie Rose, will consist of about fifteen pieces, including sweaters, button-downs, jeans, and a color palette of black and white with occasional bursts of the very 2008 yellow.

Rachel is also set to appear in the ads, and probably lesser red carpet events in the clothes.

Edie Rose will be sold in major department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom starting this September.

Expect to see her front row at Spring '09 Fashion Week wearing a cute yellow top, dark skinny jeans and a short jacket - but only because she really likes it, of course.

When will celebrity designers end? If we all just band together and refuse to buy it, maybe this dumb trend will stop. She seems lovely but I think it's getting out of hand. You don't even have to be super famous to get a line these days, while people with actual talent are going no where because they don't have a trust fund or celebrity status. Very sad.

This is killing you Natalie, I know it, and I've been imagining your look of disgust all morning.

Rachel Bilson's being considered some sort of style maven has always dumbfounded me. What's so innovative or unique about her style? Sure she looks well-put-together, but I wouldn't say her style jumps out and grabs me, or inspires me. But to each his own...

guest @ 1017 - couldn't have said it better myself. Totally agree.

She does know how to dress well for her body type. Other than that, there isn't anything notable about her style. I agree with the above statements, enough with the celebrity designers!

I am so over the actress/model/nobody starting their own fashion line. Are people actually buying this stuff? It's all about a bunch of losers with some xtra cash who want to get into the industry thinking that just having the celebrity name is enough. Shame on DKNY - f-ing sellouts!
