SATC Mystery Solved

Jennifer Hudson in SATC.jpgIt's funny how differently people can react to the same thing.

When the Sex and the City trailer leaked online, a lot of reactions went like, "How could Steve do that?" or "Carrie can't get married!" But there were other people, we'll call them "us," who wondered things like, "Is she really wearing that?" and most confusingly, "Why the hell does Carrie need an assistant?"

Really, the Carrie character works approximately three hours per week, so we couldn't imagine what sort of plot line would make Carrie so busy that she'd need a paid understudy but that still wouldn't interfere with her life of lunches out and shopping.

And now we know - apparently in the movie, Jennifer Hudson, who will play assistant to SJP, is supposed to be as fashion obsessed as Carrie, but smarter about her money. So when Carrie asks over-the-top Jennifer (whose character still doesn't have a name on IMDB,) where she's been getting her stash of designer bags from, Jennifer smartly answers
"Bag Borrow or Steal" (think of it as a Netflix for handbags.)

And coinciding with the movie's premier? A Sex and the City line on BBOS sponsored by New Line Cinema, of course.

kaytied,

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I accidentally used it. My friend is a freelance journalist and had them send the bag to my apartment since she was out of the city. Well in the end she never got to use the bag and I had to send it out. One of the most annoying experiences of my life. It was like nearly impossible to get any info out of them for how to return it [yes it's on the website, but I never got a slip and since I didn't have an account number, neither did she because it was a free trial for her, I couldn't access it to send it out] It took almost 2 weeks to actually get it back to them. Very annoying. And if you were paying for it, then it'd just cost you a bunch. So yeah.

But the bag was in great condition, even if it was a totally fug choice.

I looked at BBOS about a year ago and it didn't look like such a steal to me. I mean, for the price of renting a nice handbag. . . give or take a couple of months of paying weekly installments and I can totally afford the handbag myself! I'm not one of those people that needs fifty different pricy handbags . . . just one nice one. . .
