Two Simpsons and a Wentz: A Discussion

Mar 27, 2008 @ 11:31am

Picture 4.pngNatalie: Ew, I just read that Ashlee Simpson’s designing a line for Wet Seal.

Britt: Of course she is.

Natalie: I didn’t even know Wet Seal was still around. Apparently it’s a line of t-shirts with pictures “inspired by her sense of style, her personality and her album artwork.”

Britt: Ew, I’m picturing Jessica strutting around in plastic shoes, Ashlee drawing on her t-shirts and Pete strolling in wearing DKNY girl’s jeans.

Natalie: HA! When she and Pete get married they can design housewares for Sears. And Jessica can pitch it on QVC!

Britt: They are so creative. Why couldn’t I have been born a Simpson?

(both dissolve into a fit of giggles)

uhmm guest@1:21 syako is one of the great commenters on this site -i think, when i don't have time to read all comments if i see her commenting on something, i take time to read what she has to say. you don't have to agree on what she has to say, but i think guest 1:21 this is no place for hate. everyone is expressing their opinions.

Firstly, I second (or third) Poseur's comment regarding guest 1:21's comment regarding Syako's comment... PHEW! Now that we've gotten past all THAT, I also want to second chic3's comment-- Wet Seal CANNOT still exist. I refuse to believe it. Maybe it's only in the midwest or something, but I can't recall the last time I saw a Wet Seal store here in New York. Or maybe I just blocked it out like a bad memory. Could go either way....

Okay... I had to research this whole Wet Seal thing, as if it was some sort of scientific phenomena (yes, I have too much time on my hands right now, welcome to my spring break- it's like Girls Gone Wild, 28 year Old Style).... so yeah, apparently Wet Seal DOES exisit. I'm on their website and I'm totally amazed... It's like I just discovered a chupacobra in my backyard... I need to contact the Discovery Channel ASAP... or just go get a snack...

Wow... pretty mean guys. Not that I don't have conversations about celebs like that....

And yes, Wet Seal is still around. And yes, a lot of high schoolers and middle schoolers shop there, even in upper-middle class suburbs of Boston. Their clothes have got to be the cheapest-, tackiest-looking things in the world. And yes, I bought a shirt there. Once. And after two wears it got a hole....

to respond to flizzers' comment: what, is the midwest the least fashionable place you could think of to mention? just because detroit and chicago aren't new york doesn't mean we don't have a lot of fashionable places to shop! it's not like everyone in the midwest is shopping at wet seal all day long and walking around in bell bottoms and babydoll tees.

Hahaha, I am giggling in response to guest 3:26's comment to me-- By noooo means was I implying that Detroit and Chicago are "unfashionable". I think I was going for a more Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska farmer-esq kind of fashion perspective, but hey, you're right, who am I to judge??!! I grew up in CT, which, by some people's standards, is just as "unfashionable" as anything that could be found in the midwest!

But at the same time, YOU made it seem like everyone in the midwest dreseses like an extra from from A Very Brady Sequel--- Bellbottoms? Babydoll tees?? I've seen the midwest, and in their defense, they've made it past 1972 :-) But I loved your comment 3:26am, I like when people make me think outside my little New York transplant box!!

Design housewares for sears? QVC? That was so deliciously true, so thank you for the slight bitchiness. Please keep it coming.

I agree with guest 1:21. . . I could do with a little less Syako as well. Commenting's one thing, snipping is quite another. Example: when Syako called people "uniformed" in the Hugo Chavez post. Sometimes Syako, you're really rude and self-righteous. Just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean they're uninformed. Food for thought. . .

well I could use a little less guest if you ask me... I don't know why you all feel the need to attack me in random posts. and did you have to dig in the archives for that one?? I'm sorry, I realize now that that comment was snippy, I just was perhaps a little perturbed that day, excuse me. But the comment section is for opinions and discussion, if you hate me so much don't read my comments... it's frustrating that a select few on here have a bone to pick with me and (lack the nerve to take 2 minutes to sign up for a real account to attack me) and make this place - which is a great source of information - somewhere that feels like I'm in junior high.

You're just mad because people call you on it when you need to put a cork in it. Accept it, move on and try to stop dancing on people's toes, so much. . .

As someone stuck in Cleveland for the week, I'm going to represent the Midwest for a minute. Yes, Wet Seal is alive and well in many Ohio malls. It's a scary, scary place full of vinyl and pleather and tees that still say things like "TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND HI" and I don't want to go on because I think you understand.

However, it's not like Wet Seal is the ONLY thing out here. There are plenty of decent places to shop. Unfortunately, these decent places are mixed in with shops like Wet Seal and Torrid and sorry I have to throw up now, bye.

I'm gonna have to agree with the Midwest-Missouri is quite an unfashionable area. I'm stuck here until further notice (need some money) and I've grown up living with peers who like Wet Seal and Hollister, and wear it like it's the most fashionable, original clothing in the world. I do shop at Forever 21, so I'm not above anyone, but at least I have some style. Of course, not everyone dresses horribly, but a lot do!

*Sorry I just had to comment on this midwest thing because I've always hated how everyone dresses.

i live in the midwest and all anyone ever wears is hollister or chunky turtlenecks from sears.

for lack of better/more fashionable stores around here, i do shop at wet seal, forever 21, etc. but i know how to differentiate between cute/original from hidious, tacky, cheap mainstream, so it's all good.

the midwest does have its perks: at least i can stand out in a crowd of hollister-bird bearing followers :)
