Would You Wear a Face?

miumiugirl.jpgThe Miu Miu Harlequin girl is haunting us.

Seriously.

We see her face on Kirsten when we flip through Vogue. She stares up at us from the "dress" on Byrdie Bell. She even shows up when we scroll through Net-a-Porter. But the odd thing is, we never see faces on girls in real life.

Whether it's the futuristic Lanvin dresses from Spring 07 or the Dorothy dress from Heatherette Fall 07, wearing someone else's face on a dress just seems innapropriate.

Okay, certainly if you're Paris Hilton, wearing your face on your chest is as natural as wearing one of the Kitson-induced "Team..." tees of years gone by. And I'll admit, I actually fell in love with Naomi Campbell all over again when she wore the "Naomi hit me, and I liked it" tee shirt to poke fun at her own violent habits.

But honestly, could someone without an ego the size of Alburquerque pull off an outfit dominated by someone else's beautiful face? Are most women really that secure?

I dunno, but I really wanted one of the "Kate" or "Linda" tees from Harlow last year.

All that's left is the "Gisele" ones. Love her, but it's just not the same.

i have this dress (mu mu) that is ridiculously unflattering. very thin straps, black bandeau top, empire waist, mid calve length...the body of the dress has a long woman in a white bikini on a pink background and it says in large letters "SUNSHINE FLORIDA." my friends yell at me every time i wear it but it is SO comfortable and cool in the summer i cant resist.

and in middle school i stole a tshirt from my older sister with a cartoon face of naomi cambell on it. i wore it lovingly.

so, yes, we like lady faces on our clothes. who cares if they are hotter than me? theyre not real. i am.

"But honestly, could someone without an ego the size of Alburquerque pull off an outfit dominated by someone else's beautiful face? Are most women really that secure?". I don't get what you're trying to say here. Albuquerque is a mid-sized city. Are you trying to say that only those with a mid-sized ego could pull of a face-shirt. 'Cause I think most people have a mid-sized ego.

the only time i have witnessed the miu miu dress... was staring at me at the Marc Jacobs shop on a pregnant spanish woman.
It was all very odd, because I never thought I would actually see the dress on anybody, let alone, a pregnant woman, bold, but looked bizarre...
