omg... i saw that very F21 style at the mall this weekend & had a mini-freakout - the friend i was with didn't really understand my heightened state of emotion...

was about to email it in but you beat me to it ;)

gah!!! is this a finger-pointing competition? let the original designers and the copy-cats sort these things out for themselves, seriously!

not only is it eye-rollingly self-righteous, but it's getting rather tiresome just like your twice-daily aggy posts used to be (thank you for toning those down, btw).

maybe just try to find something more interesting to write about.

Whatever, I love Adventures in Copyright. It is actually how I found Fashionista, after I unknowingly bought a fab Forever 21 knockoff. One of my favorite features.

I agree with poseur and kijjalyn. Plus, I love to see how shameless these companies are.

To me, it's just that knock-offs abound -- so it's not like the one or two featured on this site are particularly noteworthy.

I think "adventures in copyright" are kind of filler for slower news days. They're somewhat interesting, though. (Even though the general idea of pointing out that people knock off designs is rather... un-newsworthy?)

I've actually always thought that top was a silk replica of Calisto's outfit from Xena, Warrior Princess.

this proenza schouler bustier knockoff has been in forever 21's stores for almost 6 months now...

I think these posts are really interesting! I bet most of the people buying this stuff don't even know that they're copies of famous designs. They probably just like those shoes or this top, and buy them.

Perhaps the reason why the first two tops were easy to knock off was b/c they weren't from the actual line, they were done by the designers for target. Hence the ability to be easily knocked off since they were made for mass production at a lower cost.

I bought a bustier top virtually identical to these from Victoria's Secret a good 6 months before Proenza's hit Target...

I know that Adventures in Copyright gets contentious. Not to pour more gas on the fire, but I think a lot of people use these posts as a shopping catalog, and buy the knock offs. Which is the opposite of the whole point.

Mara Hoffman also has some dresses and tops like this, that are on ShopBop.

I love Adventures in Copyright!

Come on people. I like Adventures in Copyright! Besides, this one was pretty much pointing out the irony of what they were saying in the quote.... And guest @12:48 PM, Fashionista has posted about this top at least twice previously.

For those of you in NY, Proenza has a great sample sale twice a year where you can score the real thing for ~$200 to $300. Pricey but still very marked down from the original.
