Keith Haring at UNIQLO, Starting Now

Apr 02, 2008 @ 2:08pm

Keith Haring Drawing If you're suffering from Pop Shop nostalgia, pay attention:

Keith Haring's crazy store on Lafayette may be gone, but his t-shirts just hit UNIQLO.

We saw them getting rolled onto the store floor last night.

The shirts sell for under $20, and feature classic prints from the New York graffiti artist, including his electric hearts and flying babies.

Funnily enough, they're being sold in Soho, which used to be where Haring and his other gritty art friends lived, but has now turned into something of a theme park.

Wonder what he'd think of that...

I love that they used that pic for Best Buddies, a program that pairs high-school and college age kids with people with mental disablilities. I don't think I could look at Keith Haring without thinking of that.

If you ladies want to check out a Keith Haring mural its by the pool in JJ Walker Park. There's only two in the city.... the other one is the famous "crack is wack" in Harlem. JJ Walker Park is located on Leroy Street between 7th Avenue South and Hudson St. I know for a fact because I live in the neighborhood.
