A Change of a Sleeve

starbucksnewoutfit.jpgNatalie: Either something's gone horribly wrong at my Starbuck's, or their cups got new outfits.

Britt: That's Starbuck's? It looks so sterile.

Natalie: I know! Why isn't everyone talking about this?

Britt: Um, I'm off coffee, so I'm not sure. But I did hear they have a new blend so maybe they're just coordinating? Or maybe it's a sign they're using more recycled paper?

Natalie: Oh. Well, I do like a monochromatic look and I'm all for recycling. But I'm kind of worried. I mean, will we still be able to recognize Mary-Kate?

Britt: Don't worry - the white cup will be totally easy to spot in front of all the new black Balenciaga.

It's the logo from the first store at Pike Place. It's about the new Pike Place roast.

Living in D.C. and next to the second busiest Starbucks in the nation, I speak for all of us when I say, no one knew what to do when they say their namesake morning routine changed. Spotted Nancy Pelosi in the same Starbucks, and the logos were a bigger deal than our female, Democratic Speaker of the House. Welcome to America.

i work at starbucks, and its because we're offering a new blend and 'going back to basics' because our coffee sucks and were trying to portray to everyone else that we're changing as a company...

Haha iloveyou. Maybe Sbucks should LOWER THEIR PRICES. In Europe I paid 9 dollars for a grande vanilla latte (ordered before I realized). Granted, I am considering the exchange rate, but even in the US, it's bad. Lower your prices don't change your clothes!

1. Green cups will eventually be back (according the manager at the 'bucks on 6th and 14th).
2. In Howard Schultz's comments to investors a couple of weeks back, he said they are going to lower prices a bit in order to compete with D&D and McDonalds.

@Kara - I live in Seattle and there are plenty of Starbucks drive-throughs. But then there's a Starbucks on every corner... :)

I do hope they lower their prices.

1. Why would Starbucks change? I love Starbucks!
2. You all complain about the prices, but I don't think ANY of you get it. Starbucks is all about the atmosphere! Their coffee is great btw. You can sit and RELAX in Starbucks. You can smell the coffee and hear people talking. You can look around and see very rich colors and people with their Mac laptops. It's the environment you are partially paying for, and I must say, it's worth it. Who wants to sit down in McDonalds, let alone step foot in that disgusting place?? Starbucks gives a sense of closeness, and home. It also has a slight sense of freedom and warmth.
THIS IS STARBUCKS, LOVE IT, DRINK IT, FEEL IT.
