Plastic, Fantastic, Inevitable

plasticbagdress.jpg We were walking by LUSH today, and one of their employees was outside.

She was dressed in about a hundred plastic bags, all pinned to her apron to form a very ugly dress, and she was screaming, “Turn in your bags! Turn in your bags!”

It’s too bad we were so creeped out, because it was an excellent idea:

Bring in your plastic bags to LUSH and get something much, much cooler: The chance to sample some of the cool company’s signature bath and shower goodies, and the knowledge that instead of your bags filling a landfill, they’ll actually get recycled.

But what about recycling the bags yourself by wearing them as a dress?

We wouldn’t recommend that - it’s a little too Marjorie-The-Trash-Heap from Fraggle Rock.

Oh god, please tell us you’re old enough to remember Fraggle Rock

Is Marjorie the Trash Heap also the basis for the Trash Dump lady in The Labyrinth? Talk about a Jim Henson creation of untold fashion parables...

Red was my favorite. With her big red ponytails. She was definitely the most fashionable *sings* "down in fraggle rock!"

Ooh, that's what this was about! I saw them today in Georgetown (DC) and wasn't sure if they were protesting or part of some odd promo. It's hard to tell in this city.

Wouldn't wear a pasltic dress, but the idea is interesting.

@sarahchivonne- teddy ruxpin scared the heck out of me as well! and i thought i was the only one. once i put a sesame street cassette in teddy ruxpin and some awful screeching noises came out of his mouth. i never wanted to touch him again. and i loved fraggle rock. i should take their advice...dance your cares away, worries for another day!
