Christian Dior was the first in 1957 and Armani was the second designer in 1982.

The answer is definitely not Diane Von Furstenberg lol. She only became really popular in the early 1970s, and it was after this that she was on the cover of Time Magazine.

The answer is definitely not Diane Von Furstenberg because she only became really popular in the 1970s. It was obviously after her rise in popularity that she graced the cover.

It was Clare McCardell in 1955, she was pictured on the cover and the focus of a story about the new American Look that didn't take inspiration from European designers. Dior was profiled a few times in the 1940s but didn't make the cover until 1957
