The name Marimekko is a combination of a Finish word for 'small dress' (mekko) and the other part of the name (Mari), an anagram for Armi, one of the companies founders.

Is the print from a plate or an umbrella? Didn't they also design those crazy retro mouses for computers?

Second part beats me!

Definitely not from a plate. I would say this print is from new marimekko for h&m-collection.

correct answer: it means "mary's dress." and the background print is just the a scan of the invitation to the barneys/loomstate launch. yay!

Not "mary's dress" -- just mari dress. 1) Mary in Finnish is Maria, 2) if it were possessive it would be Marinmekko
