Would You Wear a Tiara?

Apr 02, 2008 @ 2:58pm

audrey.jpgThe last time we donned a tiara, we were playing Pretty Pretty Princess.

That was a very long time ago.

But apparently, they're the latest fashion forward accessory. Intern Jazzi, who always looks stylish but not trend obsessed, says she wears hers out any random night. Intern Brett says he knows "tons of girls who wear them." And Blair Waldorf wore one, (even if it was a dream sequence), so the accessory's naturally on Natalie's radar.

Now, The Dean Harris for Target line features a thorny crown topped with beads that could transform a head of golden ringlets into a veritable fairy princess.

But there's something about wearing a crown that will always make us think of Pretty, Pretty Princess and cheesy brides.

Do you wear tiaras out and about?

Lord, no. Women who do really need to get over their princess complex.

That image shows a tiara from Dean Harris' current collection. But I do hope he does something like it for Target!

I would, but I don't like being wished a happy birthday all day.

If I thought I could rock one like Audrey, then I would. But it would look ridiculous on me (as it probably does on most women!)

not if it was any sort of special event. tiaras, seem to scream, "hey, look at me, it's my birthday and you should wish that i have a good one and give me lots of extra attention."

Before you all call me crazy for wearing a tiara on random nights out--

They're pretty much jeweled headbands!!! And i do not pair them with LC's Les Deux ensembles.

I also do not have a princess complex, don't hate, I just like shiny things.

(and I'd totally wear that Dean Harris one!)

I love Pretty Pretty Princess!
But I would definitely not wear a tiara about. I find them to be a bit obnoxious...

Yup i have seen many girls with them. In the late 90s, one of my best friends from college would wear one when we went clubbing!

hey hey hey relax - its not a serious fashion statement, it's just fun sometimes to not take yourself or your outfit too seriously and throw something random and sparkly on - like a tiara.

This is hilarious. I saw a bunch of kids at the mall on Friday wearing tiaras, and I thought it was a freak occurance. This is a trend? They looked crazy!

Delicate metal headband, perhaps with jewels and a little bit of texture? Sure. Full-out tiara balanced on the front of my head? No way.

Terrible reality star from "The Bachelor", Erica Rose is apparently designing a line of tiaras called "T'Erica". No joke - I have yet to see the finished product.

if it was made of real jewels then i'd sport that thing all over town. and if i was engaged to prince william. or is it harry that's the most desired one now?

other than that, tiara = paris hilton

No no no. It's so tacky. It cheapens every outfit. Only actual princesses/queens can pull it off. Well, after looking at Audrey's picture up there, I guess some people can wear it well.

Tiaras are not so classy these days, with every former cheeleader wearing one of her wedding day!

i think the dean harris one that looks like a crown of thorns is SO BEAUTIFUL. but i guess that's not as much of a tiara as say, the one i wore on my 21st birthday. (don't hate, it was fabulous).

regardless of the fact they tend to look mildly ridiculous and cheapen every outfit, i can and WILL be wearing one to my sweet sixteen!

no no no! It reminds me of that really annoying girl in high school who thought she was a Disney princess.

If it's headband-like (such as Natalie Portman's look from the Oscars a few years ago that she wore with the pleated Lanvin, that's fine. Anything that screams "bridal"--definitively not.

It's a wee bit Drew Barrymore/Courtney Love/generic Manics fan for my tastes. Perhaps there's a wearable strait between the twin terrors of little miss princess-head and screaming glitter-strewn hellbitch, but I'm not drawn to try and navigate it.
