Adventures in Copyrights: Ms. Pink

jimmy choo nine west pink shoes.jpgQuick!

How are these shoes different?

1. Length of ankle strap.

2. Angle of the back part of the shoe that covers your heel (sorry, we’re not cobblers)

3. Color of buckle.

4. Color of that little cap on the heel.

5. Oh, and the insole - One’s Jimmy Choo, $585; the other’s Nine West, $89.

But if either of these stomped past us down Madison? We’d think you were out $600…

These were interesting at first but now its kind of repetitive. I see 385374823 knock-offs, "inspired-by", flat-out fakes, whatever you want to call its, a day.

Sorry, but the both look cheap. I saw the Jimmy Choo's last night while I was shooting for my blog and I was like "no, these look payless" and the 9west ones look even worse.

Also personal photography lolz...I love that you can see the soft box reflection in the 9west shoe but not the Jimmy Choo ones, cheaper companies need to hire better photographers if they're going to knock off higher end shops.

good for you doll, you must work in retail. personally i enjoy the copyrights and find them informative. it lets readers know if they were going to purchase a high priced item that there is an almost identical competitor for much less. conversely, if readers have a stigma about purchasing knockoffs then they can be informed. i also know there are lawyers who read this site strictly for the adventures in copyright.

xxi:
the photography gaffe you pointed out is funny! I have never noticed it but I am going to keep an eye out for it in the future.

AND, what is it about jimmy choo heels that I never like? Must be a personal preference thing...

This has always been the basis of mass market clothing--it is a knockoff of something a higher-end designer has put forth as that season's style trend. Do you really think they're sustaining their practices on the estimated 200 couture clients worldwide? For the most part, the $600 and $60 customers aren't the same person, so designers aren't losing anything.

I'm not the biggest Jimmy Choo fan. I alwys see them on the website for Saks and neiman and think...ehhhhh maybe not.
and I dont love there ad's. I agree that both look fake. Nine west is attempting to be better but this isnt one of those attempts.
and hot pink?
maybe
but not on this shoe...although
I adore patent leather.

This post seems more of an example of exorbitant overpricing rather than how big the problem of designer knockoffs is

Kenya: you might want to look up how to properly use "conversely" and "stigma" before you start throwing them into random sentences.

Just trying to help you out.

umm, guest at 4pm, that is actually the correct use of conversely, though i agree stigma is a little off.

The only thing better about the Jimmy Choo's are the "vibrant" pink color and that's probably just the lighting. I like the styling of the Nine West's alot better.

There are a lot of people that apparently think that knockoffs are not an issue because the Nine West buyer wouldn't have bought the Jimmy Choo anyway. That part I believe is mostly, though not always, true. What is important to consider, however, is that the Jimmy Choo buyer is likely to be annoyed that their shoe could be mistaken for a knockoff and therefore is less likely to purchase the Jimmy Choo. This is clearly problematic for the original designer.

Funny you should mention Payless cause theres a shoe from Payless that looks exactly like these shoes. Other than the strap being slightly higher and the front rounder it isnt too far off...heres the link to check it out:

well the ceo of coach was asked if coach's madison avenue higher end bag buyer would be upset about the coach stores that sell most products under $400 in new jersey i.e. suggesting the lower priced stuff devalues the brand, not that coach is a true luxury brand imo but they do sell a $4000 bag

he said: his madison avenue customer has never been to jersey. lol thats snarky!

so maybe the jimmy choo regular customer may never buy nine west and assume that someone wearing nine west knockoffs splurged and are wearing the real deal :D that would be jokes since its a pretty ugly shoe
